Bug: 1.5 Bible Knowledge Commentary no longer available and downloading issues

I updated to 1.5 last night.  First, Awesome!  I can finally use my iTouch more fully now that the footnotes are available offline.  Also, for books that are downloaded, they display much better now.

However, I have come across 2 issues:

  1. The Bible Knowledge Commentary is no longer available.  In fact, the program has crashed on me two times while searching for it.
  2. Certain books are failing to download.  The ones I have had issues with so far are:
  • International Standard Bible Encyclopedia (ISBE)
  • Theological Dictionary of the New Testament (TDNT)
  • Theological Dictionary of the New Testament Abridged (TDNTA)

On a side note, having the Lexham Greek-English Interlinear New Testament is great, however, not having Louw-Nida limits its usefulness, since none of the links work.

Certain books are failing to download.

I've had this too, but they've always worked second time around.

Amen! It's a shame LN is not available.

    Mike,

Set them to offline hit the done button. Then go back in and set to online then hit the done button. My experience is some of the larger lexicons and dictionaries take a little longer than others to download. I was able to get all three of the books listed to download. Also, might try downloading one at a time with the larger dictionaries and lexicons and interlinears. I think the study bibles are pretty large too.

I still haven't been able to get ESV Study Bible downloaded... will keep trying ;)

Another option is to force close the app.  If you're using iOS 4.x or newer, press the home button to get back to the main screen.  Then press it twice quickly to get the list of running apps to pop up.  Press and hold until the icons start to wiggle.  Press the red minus symbol above the logos icon (in the list of running apps at the bottom of the screen).  Then reopen the app.  That will force it to check again to see how many books remain to be updated.

This is another way to accomplish what James recommended above.

Thank you to everyone for the helpful suggestions!  Actually, I have had a number of books that I had to turn off the Available Offline, and then click Done, and then re-turn-on the Available Offline, and they worked.  I guess I will have to keep trying this with the larger resources.

The Bible Knowledge Commentary is not available on iPhone and you will not be able to update it. It was made available in error for a short period of time.
