ver 1.5 having trouble downloading ESV Study Bible
I was able to get all of my offline books to update and download except The ESV Study Bible. I have set it for offline and the reset for online. The rotating circle next to the WiFi continues to rotate as though it is downloading, but The ESV Study Bible doesn't download.
I'll keep trying.

Ditto.
Exact same problem with the ESV SB. While all other resources were successfully updated.

Same experience on my end.

my books were downloading very slowly, so I just deleted the app and then reinstalled it and the first book that I loaded was the ESV.,.. no problem at all doing it that way.

Have been having a good many crashes after updating. I have deleted Logos and reinstalled twice now... it is very slow in loading library... seems to be slow downloading books having some issues with the Interlinear pop ups. Will keep testing but it seems 1.5 is a little buggy... is there a way to downgrade?

The ESV loads fine, the ESV Study Bible (the notes) fails to load. The app has crashed on me a few times while trying to download the ESVSB.

Chris, Last night I had to down load the books one at at time and set the phone to never turn off... I turned the book on and off a couple of times and the spinning wheel began and then I was able to get what I wanted. I don't have the ESVSB, but I tried the LSB which should be around the same size and it went just fine this morning.

I don't think it's an issue of size but some problem with the resource itself. So far I haven't had any trouble downloading any other resource, but I'm having the same problem several others report of the ESV SB not downloading.

my books were downloading very slowly
I think that if you mark several dozens books to download all at once, they will be very slow.
ESVSB doesn't work for me, either.

I understand Chris and sorry for the confussion... at
first I thought that some of the issues that some were having had to do with
bandwidth.. but I don't see the same issues now.

I understand Mark, but I have had this with just 1 book to download... it just seems slow at times, and at others it is done in just two short blinks of an eye... One commentary D/L in about 3 seconds... that is short!

Downloading a resource is a two step process: downloading the file and installing it. The ESV Study Bible is one of our largest resources, over 200MB. Depending on your Internet connection, the download step may take a long time. The install step may also take a long time; it takes 1-2 minutes on my iPhone 4, but it does succeed. We have discovered a problem with memory usage during the install step. It affects devices other than iPhone 4 and results in the OS killing the app. We are working on a fix. In the mean time, you will not be able to download or update ESV Study Bible and other very large resources on older devices. Other large resources that may exhibit the same behavior are: Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary, The First Hebrew Primer, The New Unger's Bible Handbook, Holman Bible Atlas, and others, depending on how much memory your device has.

How do you categorize the iPad? The app would crash for me when trying to load the ESV SB on my 32gb iPad.

If it's a RAM issue, then it will likely happen on any device besides iPhone 4, since all the others apparently have 256MB or less of RAM, as I recall. This would include the iPad, which also has 256MB. I think 2nd gen iPod Touch only has 128MB, so it could really struggle with the app.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on what kind of memory I was talking about. The issue is the amount of RAM, not storage. The amount of RAM is not advertised, but iPhone 4 has 512MB, iPad and iPhone 3GS have 256MB, earlier iPhones have 128MB.

I too am seeing the problems that you describe above. I have tried to download ESVSB a number of times and have had the app crash. I assume that the crashes happened in the install phase. I have a 32GB generation one iPod Touch (Model MB376C, Version 3.13).
All that said, I love the new interface and offline support. I really like the way footnotes are handled and the addition of the footnote icon in the text making it fairly easy to touch the footnote and get the pop-up. Really a wonderful step forward. Thank you!
Let me say that every release seems to be a nice step forward. While I like everyone, including Bob and the development team at Logos, would like a magic wand that would deliver instant results, life is not like that (just read James 1 ...). So again, thank you Logos for persevering on our behalf. I have spent much of my career leading software development projects and I know just how challenging it is. Keep up the great work.

I now have ESVSB installed. In case it's helpful to others, there are the steps I took:
- Rebooted by iPhone to make sure that no other apps are running and taking up memory (pressed and help the power key until prompted to switch the iPhone off).
- Loaded Logos.
- Downloaded ESVSB.

Using Mark's rebooting trick, I was able to get the ESV Study Bible on my iPhone 4 but it crashed my iPad twice while downloading when I tried the same rebooting trick.
