A new user. Is there a Instruction Manual available for Logos for Mac? I got the CD with limited instruction, need a manual....
Hello David,
Welcome.
A couple of choices...
1. http://www.logos.com/products/search?q=logos+4+mac+training+manual
2. The Wiki
I would recommend the Wiki and ALL of the videos. Mark Barnes has some REALLY nice videos although they're the windows version. With just a few exceptions, the two apps are the same in functionality and method.
Concur with Tom. Start with Mark Barnes free videos.
Wiki page - Logos 4 Mac Overview => http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_Mac has link to Logos 4 videos for Mac => http://www.logos.com/videos/mac along with Mac and PC User Interface Differences link => http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_and_PC_User_Interface_Differences
Keep Smiling [:)]

I agree. I buy a lot of software and must admit that it is unbelievably bad that you are required to pay for a manual for the software. I was going to upgrade but am going to hold off for a while until I get to know the software better.
There should be a detailed manual listing all the basic syntax for all of the basic operating features of the software.
Taxee, It is taxing to constantly hear your complaints. You and WAM have construed owner's manual (the first thing I usually throw away) with training manual (Something I spent $50 for in Logos).
If you want to pursue all the features of Logos and cut down on the learning curve time then you'll buy the training manuals. Its a quarter of the cost of attending one of the MP Seminars, and I can access them everyday. (Not to say that the Seminars don't have their own value).
The detailed manual listing syntax and operating features is on this website and on these message boards. I encourage you to ask for help so we (as Logos users) can help you.
Adapted from the movie Jerry McGuire...

Being a tax consultant by profession and having designed a textual research library for tax professionals in a past life, I may be one of the only ones that actually would read a manual... but then I read the Internal Revenue Code and the Canadian Income Tax Act as well.
With respect to the Logos software, I know what I want to do and should be able to do. Having to suffer through a video presentation when I could go straight to the section in a manual that would answer my question is more than a bit painful. Having to pay for a manual is simply outside my realm of experience.
The reason people generally need training is because they want someone to tell them how to do something rather than invest the (considerably less) time to read the manual.
I am not unthankful for the considerable time that seems to have been spent by some users in putting together some basic resources for the uninitiated. But that does not mean that the company earning the revenue from the sales of the software should not have put together a decent manual.
Sorry for complaining but I am just used to the way that most of the world works when it comes to computer software.

While Logos 4 does not provide a manual, searchable Help is included with Logos 4 on Mac and PC:
Many Logos volunteers have contributed to online Logos 4 "manual" => Wiki that has many sections (pages) to answer questions, can use Visual Table of Contents as a starting point. Logos blog article => http://blog.logos.com/2011/03/have_you_used_the_logos_4_online_manual_its_free/
A few months after this thread was started, wiki page Getting Started with Logos was created with tips plus links to videos and wiki pages.
