4.2a B3 crash
I ran a couple of searches (same query) opened new sentence diagram, closed diagram, then hit search for third time..
and err.. I broke it..

yep me too now - hope they fix it before Christmas, was hoping to do some work... same error as earlier...

I just did about a dozen syntax searches, some very complicated, along with opening some sentence diagrams and could not duplicate it. Have you found a sequence that crashes it every time?
I know what I would do, if it was me I would do a rebuild index and then see if it happens again. Anecdotally and IMHO there have been some issues with the index file.
If you can reproduce let us know how and we will try and copy the process. If not, I would humbly recommend the rebuild index.

program is crasing on startup for me - so unable to
Will try holding CTRL down to force offline, but ... dont want to have a 20hr rebuild of index if its avoidable..

I have been using vrious tools and trying to open a number of different resources and user created files. I cannot get a crash. If anyone is able to produce a repeatable crash, please post logs with the action sequence that produced it.

bringing another app to the foreground, I have a completely blank layout.. (nothing open) and it still is crashing for me..

It happened every time I started the program. It would start to load and then the program must shut down dialogue would appear. I did note a problem in the log file with the sentence diagramming, deleted the sentence diagram data file. Opened the program and it was okay except sentence diagrams were blank. I restored the sentence diagram data file from the recycle bin and everything seems to be working now.

I'm not sure why that would fix it, but I'm glad it did. I'll run this by development.

Dom,
You do know that you can't downgrade without a re-install (part of the risk of being a Beta tester)? You might get a link for Beta 2 but otherwise you have to revert to v4.2 or wait for the next beta.

hopefully both will happen, was hoping to work before new year, cant wait 2 weeks for a fix/next beta - anyone has a link it would be helpful

Dominic, looking at both of our log files, it appears that it has something to do with the indexer and the sentence diagramming documents. Here is hoping for a fix.

heres my SD database in case it helps..
deleting SD database and new document index files and letting L4 recreate it by a "Rebuild Index" seems to have stabalised it for now but indexer still running, however, as sooon as I add a new SD I get an almost immediate crash, same error

deleted Sentence Diagram files again and everything is running fine. Sentence diagram files open up blank though, and cannot create new ones. I expect I will have to keep my SD files in the recycle bin and restore them after a fix is made available.

You each have a slightly different variation on the same problem: some diagrams imported from LDLS3 have invalid content that wasn't correctly filtered out during the import. In 4.2a, Logos 4 started indexing the "alternate" text in sentence diagrams, which is where this invalid data is stored, exposing this problem for the first time.
Both these crashes will be fixed in Beta 4.

Now I have removed the records from DocumentInfo.db and let L4 create new SD database to circumvent the crashing so I can do some work, am not sure how best to reinstate them when next beta release happens
.. any advice would be helpful, if it a case of reimporting from v3, cos some of the SD's I only have in the attatched file and were created in v4, can I take that those created in v4 are good if so I will restore databases and delete v3 SD's?
