How to find what Greek words are translated into a specific English word?

Yesterday at church during the Morning Service, the preacher, who was preaching a sermon entiled "Fear Not", mentioned that there are 3 Greek and 5 Hebrew words that are translated "fear" in the KJV.

Is there an easy way to run this query in L4?

For instance, I am studying "edification" and I want to find all the Greek and Hebrew words that are translated into this English word in the kjv or esv. How can this be done in L4?

Dave, welcome to the forums!

Yes, the kind of search you want to do can be done in Logos. All you need is a Reverse Interlinear KJV and a morph search with Analysis view. It is easiest to sort through if you do 2 searches, one for the Old and one for the New Testaments.

Is there an easy way to run this query in L4?

Select the target word in the Bible text and right-click. In the popup make sure you have Selection selected on the right side and click Bible Word Study (BWS) on the left (I have a custom template, hence My BWS). This will give you colored rings for Hebrew and Greek words translated "fear" in the target version.

I see that Kevin posted while I was gathering information. Now, you have two ways to accomplish the same thing.

It will show you one word for Greek and one word for Hebrew. You can create a ring for different translations, too. If you want to see where a greek word is translated "fear" just click that part of the graph, or click in the middle of the graph to see everywhere "fear" appears in the Greek."
