When I start to study a particular book of the bible, I like to open all the commentaries I have regarding that particular book.  I found that when I open the passage guide all the commentaries I own show up.  However, it takes time to open each one individually.  Is there any way to open them all up at one time?  Thanks, JC

Creating and naming a layout would probably be the closest you could get to what your wanting.  Be sure to link them together and to your Bible.  Also make sure you favorite sets are prioritized in your library.

I don’t want to do that and here is why – MEMORY.  I don’t know how much but every open resource requires some memory to be used.  The more memory used and the slower it runs.  [then it depends on how many commentaries you have]

I can't even imagine the clutter that would result if I opened EVERY commentary on almost any passage.

JC this seems a bit extreme. Why open them all at once. You can't read that many at one time. Why not use collections and Parallel Resource Associations?

Just in case you didn't know, (I know this is not what you were wanting to do, but might still work for you) you can open up one commentary in a panel, click in the panel to select it, then hit the right arrow key to switch to another commentary.  This is nice when you have a few of your favorite commentaries prioritized and you can easily switch back and forth in between them, in whatever order you prefer, without having a lot of panels open.

As an alternative strategy, you could try setting up a collection for the commentaries using the following filter:

    type:commentary AND subject:genesis

This will show up in the cited tool which can be linked to your Bible using the link feature you can then use this to a get quick overview of the contents of your prioritised commentaries and you can then select more to search the collection for all references to the current verse in all of your commentaries on that book.

If you also have a collection with the filter type:commentary you can also see how the current verse is cross referenced from commentaries on other books in the Bible.

If you have not already experimented with it, the cited tool in parallel with collections is a great way of exploring sections of your library for references to specific verses.

If you double click in the area between the Plus tab and the Close "X" it will open up the next commentary for you in a new tab. Also, if you hit the left or right arrow while a commentary is open it will swap out the current tab with the next commentary. How well do these features meet your need?
