Hello,

A last try.

Is there any possibility to find anything of a Hebrew or Greek word through Logos 4 on Mac?

Is there any possibility to ask for an inflected form in the original languages?

Is there any possibility to open more than two columns to view different versions of the text?

Thanks in advance

I try again and again, using h-translit of a Hebrew Word, but the result is always 0 results, though I have specified the Hebrew version and the corpus (for example neviim). Why ?

    Hello Patrick,

Below are several screenshots and ways to search both Greek and Hebrew. Click on the search icon, select bible type g:agap and it will populate various options for manuscript text. Select your text and the either search or connect with AND/OR/ANDNOT/NEAR/WITHIN # WORD etc and search. You can search Greek Texts or the Greek Text underlying a Reverse Interlinear such as ESV, NASB, NRSV NKJV. LEB or KJV.

You can easily search directly from the text with a right mouse click. You can select the manuscript or lemma. Below is a screenshot of the menu searching from the NA27.

You can also search from the ESV with a right mouse click.. here is a shot of that:

There are numerous videos that provide help and insight on how to use this program to accomplish your desired tasks. It is very powerful, but does take some time to learn to use.  There are instructions on downloading Greek and Hebrew Keyboards if you prefer to type in the original languages, a search of the forums should get you to those links.

Logos is fully "scholar" capable, but you need to spend the time to learn how to use it. The only weakness currently would be complex searches involving case agreement with proximity. The syntax modules and searching is powerful, but does take some time to learn. Hope this helps. Oh, and one last shot searching for the lemma:

Open search; select BHS; type h:nevil and select the word you want from the drop down menu, then run the search:

Hi JOhn, This seems wonderful… but doing all this just leads me to NOTHING: ' results every time. BTW I never get the list of Hebrew or Greek but only the transliteraiotn for the choice of the search.

I SUSPECT THERE IS A VERY FIRST BASIC STEP YOU ARE ALL VERY USED WITH AND WHICH I PROBABLY OMIT SOMEWHERE IN THE PROCESS, WHICH MAKES THE WHOLE OF YOU DESCRIBE HERE LEADING TO NOWHERE.

I am sorry that you are not getting the program to work for you. I realize it must be frustrating. I am not at my Mac currently, but I could put together a quick video for you later if you think it would help. The one issue that comes to mind is do NOT put a space between h:word... also, make sure your are searching with bible or morph selected NOT basic.

Let me know if you want me to put a video together for you.

John, It is very kind of you, but I would not like bother you. Just now I put the colon instead of the hyphen which is given in the tutorials as a way of looking for Hebrew or Greek after h- or g- and it led me to Hebrew forms and no more to transliterated ones. Nevertheless the result remains the same: For example when selecting 'Verses', the following line appears: + Add Versions. If I select Aligned I get Aligned Verses 0 results. And I look for words which I know are in the corpus evidently. I have tried Bible as well as Morph, selected the Hebrew or greek version corresponding to the search. in vain until now. There must be something I did not do when opening the Program.

Thank you so much for your help. Who knows…

The last try: I searched for the English word 'peace' (need it…) and not finding a specific version I entered in Top Bible. It has run for two full minutes showing the first three references but I could not check anything for the program was running not allowing any interference. Then the whole disappeared and I am back at a blank window…

I begin to suspect a real bug here. I wonder if there are (possibly satisfied) Mac Users runnng the program?

For mysterious reason then I discovered this n the sear field: ([field bible, content] hebrew:שלום)  so, what to do? I just clicked Enter and I found two occurrences of the word in the Targum Onkelos and Neofiti of Num 6 (!!!…) Thank you for the blessing, but sorry Logos for the disappointment. [:(]

There may be a problem with your installation. I recommend calling support to see if they can help you. The problem you are experiencing are not the norm. Yes, there are still some issues with L4 Mac, and some customers having difficulties, but not to the extent you are. Please all them and see if they might be able to assist you in getting diagnosed and running.

I contacted them, got a technician who took over the control of my machine, reindexed the program and it is still frozen. I will try to have a refund. Thougn this does not seem very easy.
