Open in a floating window...

I often open a resource as a floating window. For comfortably reading however, i always want to resize the window. Now this can be done by 'mousing' the edges and dragging the window to a suitable location (such that some other text may still be readable).

I am wondering if the software guru's could make the floating window pop up in a certain size, i.e. xxx pixels wide x yyy pixels high and then a location on the monitor as well These specs could be set by the user in the Tool > Settings menu. These features would be a nice time saving convenience.

Any thoughts about this?

My thoughts are to have a slide in tool > settings menu to control the size that floating windows would be, identical to the one in resource menus used to control text size.

Why the heck can't it remember the sizes of my floating windows? I've already asked that L4 open my Library the way I always have it (maximized). Instead, it always opens (when I do it to a floating window) to the same size centered within my screen. I'd like the same when I right-click to open a resource as a floating window - if I resize it, remember the size.

Frustrating...

On a PC there is a trick to maximizing a window. I, too, prefer the floating window to be a different size by default. I always want it to be maximized. To do that, whenever the floating window appears I double click the title bar of the window. It fills the whole screen then.

Redouble clicking will restore it.

In the Windows 7 you just can use Windows key + arrow and you place your floating window wherever you like it (I use it often to put the window to the second monitor and maximize it by hitting Win + up arrow). IMHO that is the best way to navigate the floating windows. I do it with Word and other applications too.
