Remote Access Apps for the iPad? #2

Hey Guy's,

I was doing some last minute research before buying LogMein and noticed in the comments that it no longer supports Wake on Lan which I understand as that you can not wake your laptop from your iPad anymore.  Am I right on this?  How much of a problem is this?  I would imagine that means that unless I plan ahead and make sure my laptop doesn't go into sleep mode I would not be able to access it from my iPad.  If this is true that was my rational for paying the extra for LogMein rather than one of the others.  Anyone with experience/info know of other Apps that provide this functionallity or others that compare well with it speed and functionallity wise.  My main reason for wanting this app is to use my full Logos software from my iPad.

Sorry for the length and thanks for your time,

Dale

LogMein is on sale for $10 cheaper but I'm still deciding.

Someone mentioned Remote HD which is only $4 and has wake on lan.

Desktop Connect also has this functionality for $11.

    Anyone with experience with these?

It looks like Splashtop Remote suport Wake-on-LAN (WOL), and it is only $2:

FYI, WOL requires that you turn on that functionality in the BIOS/Setup and that your iPad is on the same network (e.g. inside your house) as your laptop.

I highly recommend TeamViewer for Remote Access.  It is basically the same as LogMeIn, but the "personal use" version is completely free (both the apps and the PC software).

Wake on Lan is a complex beast and no one does it better than Remote HD.

Remote HD fully supports wake on lan. It also supports wake on lan over WiFi, meaning that your computer does not have to be wired to your router (wake on demand). And if your router is setup correctly, Remote HD will even wake up your computer over the Internet.

I would highly recommend getting Remote HD since it is so much more than a regular Remote or a VNC client for your computer.

Unlike others, it is in constant development and the 50% discount is the AppStore surely helps.

    Thanks for the info guys.

Pratik, in the screen shots on Remote HD site it looks like the full screen mode actually doesn't fill the full iPad screen (there is space at the bottom.  Is this the case? The reason I ask is I want to use this to access Logos 4 full program on my iPad and want to be able to utilize the full screen space for my Logos Layouts for ease of viewing.

    Thanks again.

iPad´s aspect ratio is 4:3 and the computers screen is usually wider 16:9.

When completely zoomed out, Remote HD fits the wider computer screen with a black border on the bottom.

Zooming in fills the entire screen.
