Basic Question about how Logos works on iPad
I do not yet own an iPad so I apologize for asking such a basic question. Here is my question:
I own LOGOS 4 on the PC. I am considering getting an iPad to use as an e-reader. Will I be able to "download" some of my LOGOS books to the iPad while in my house (which has wireless), then go somewhere WITHOUT wireless and read those books that have been "downloaded"? Or does the LOGOS app always require internet connectivity to "get" my books to read?
thanks.

Hi Steve
Yes you can download books when near a wireless connection and view them offline.
Offline searching is not currently supported.

Yes, you can do that. It is called "Offline Reading Mode." You have to select each book that you want individually and then it will download them. Although, you can't search while offline.
See this video for more information:

FYI, there is a good possibility that the iPad 2 will be coming out in the next six months (maybe even as early as February). It is worth considering holding off an iPad purchase until that happens.

The more I read about the forthcoming iPad2, the more I became inclined to get the current iPad1 before it goes away. Namely, rumors are pretty strong that the new iPad2 will be smaller (by more than a 10% ratio, possibly as much as 2 inches) in order to support 1920X1080 resolution. To support that resolution with the current screen size would bump the price up substantially, so many analysts believe that Apple has elected the smaller screen size to keep the cost down. I don't particularly want 1920X1080, and I do not want the size to get shrunk.
The current model may stay around a while, but didn't want to take that chance.

I highly doubt that they will substantially change the 9.7" model screen size. It would not surprise me if they added another SKU with a ~7" screen, given the success of the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
If they up the resolution, and with the way Apple does these things on the iOS devices, it should be nothing but a positive change. They would scale everything, so that, by default, nothing would be smaller on the screen just sharper. And, that should be an especially positive change for reading books. (It would give people with good eyesight the ability to zoom farther out, make things smaller, and fit more on the screen, if they so chose.)
But anything anyone says about the iPad 2 are rumors. You should be able to get a iPad 1 a little bit cheaper, especially a used or refurbished one, after the iPad 2 is released. If you don't really want/need one right now, then you there shouldn't be any harm in waiting to see what happens.

I went ahead and bought the current iPad. It is fantastic. The screen is so crisp and legible. I have another question now. I've downloaded some books for off-line reading. After I finish reading a book, does someone know how I "free" up the space and "undock" the book?? Thanks for everyone's posts.

To install them for offline reading you click on the i in the upper right hand corner. you should see availability clicking the on and off switch downloads it or deletes it. If you want to delete everything from logos just log off and all files downloaded will be deleted.

Read all of these with a grain of salt. Most of them are based on rumors coming out of an Asian tech blog called Digittimes which has about a 20% accuracy when it comes to rumors and that may be generous. They are reported because any time you put Apple, iPad, iOS, iPhone or iPod in a news story headline it drives a lot of traffic and thus advertising ratios.
