My Collections are gone

I had over 150 collections. I now have none. Something dumped my ResourceCollectionManager.db. So the question is, since Logos is supposed to not need to be locally backed up, what can be done to get my collections back?
I had a crash earlier and simply rebooted and had no further problems. There was a download and reindexing sometime later. That's it. I do have my beta installation and have not run that today. Also have another copy of the SR-1 release on another computer I haven't used in a few days. Could either of these be used for a backup copy?
My log files are attached.

seems that collections are stored in
C:\Users\sclark\AppData\Local\Logos4\Documents\szfxzyfg.zuu\ResourceCollectionManagermy experience is that it can take several hours before sync restores lost data. If you have the db files present in above folder, then perhaps you can close L4 and move those to a temp folder. Then start L4 to have sync restore them (remember it may take a few hours....last time i reinstalled L4 it took over 3 hours before all was restored).
Dave will probably have a better suggestion later.

Provided you don't load that version online, you can safely use it. I would backup the folder \Logos4\Documents\{random user id}\ and use that to replace the sub-folders of \{random user id} on the troubled installation, but first delete the existing ones ie. do not paste the \{random user id} folder into \Logos4\Documents!
It's likely the error is on Logos' server, so be prepared for the collections to be deleted again when you go online.
Don't use anything from the beta installation.

Thanks, Dave, I'll check in the morning to see if that computer's installation is still OK and try to replace what I have.

I don't know it is better, but I know it works as it incorporates all the interdependencies between various databases. Sync should restore/update other documents that are older.

OTOH it might just be local looking at your logs. Preserve your existing Documents before adopting my suggestion of deleting them and replacing from the other computer.

I will do that. About to see if the other computer's data is still intact.

Here's what I've done and I still have no collections:
1. Backed up the existing Logos4 Documents directory and deleted the files from their original location.
2. Copied the entire Logos4\Documents directory from my other Logos 4 installation (that still had its collections intact) to the Logos4\Documents directory.
3. Started Logos 4. No collections.
4. Closed Logos, deleted just the ResourceCollectionManager folder and again copied it over from the second computer.
5. Reopened Logos using the CTRL key to open offline. Still no collections.
The ResourceCollectionsManager.db on the second computer is 103kb. The one on the notebook starts out that way (copied over) but as soon as I open Logos4 and check it it is 10kb and my collections are gone.
Something is causing the ResourceCollectionManager.db to be rebuilt every time Logos opens. The collections work fine on my other computer. What is happening and what is the fix?
I recall that the crash I experienced earlier yesterday occurred as I was trying to apply some Ratings in Library. I wonder if there is another corruption outside the Documents directory that needs to be replaced?

If I read this literally you have done what I wanted you to avoid!? When you open \Logos4\Documents how many {random user Id} folders are there? You should have one and it should be the same as the {random user Id} in \Logos4\Data ie. papo....5ve (intentionally dropped some letters).

From Logos4.log:-
Info LocalFileDatabase Found existing database at
\Logos4\Documents\papohesy.5ve\ResourceCollectionManager\ResourceCollectionManager.db
Info LocalFileDatabase Creating new database at\Logos4\Documents\papohesy.5ve\ResourceCollectionManager\ResourceCollectionManager.db
Thereafter there are error entries like:-
Error ResourceCollectionManager Could not open collection with specified name: CollectionId=8f84d6fb-5218-4a49-bfa1-62d00d9236fb |Title=Commentaries,%20Recommended
The indexer crash log indicates a malformed database in connection with the LibraryCatalog and a collection. I doubt that the Catalog is connected as the Index was rebuilt at the end of the Logos4.log. Do you have a problem searching Library eg. title:bible?

Exactly. Did not delete the base directory or the random string, but everything below that. The string names are identical and are the originals.

Definitely what it is doing, replacing the older one.

I should have read that file more closely. My eyes glaze over.
The crash yesterday occurred while trying to change the ratings on some commentaries. AFAIK the only collection that makes use of ratings is the one you highlighted. Maybe it was corrupted during the crash.
I've never edited the ResourceCollectionManager.db file. Do you think it is worth trying to do so to eliminate that collection?

It also had problems opening "Unnamed Collection" when you first went to the menu for Collections. Have you checked that the other installation is still working with that
collection? You could delete it & Unnamed from there then copy \Documents across again. If it still crashes then I would likewise copy the Logos4\Data folder from that installation (which is equivalent to a
quick installation, so be prepared to do a scan if resources are "not in your library").EDIT: it is almost the same as a Quick Installation! but you are copying only the \Data and \Documents folders as described here!

I was that but didn't know what to make of it since this 'unnamed collection' stuff is new. But it wouldn't hurt to eliminate both. Not sure I'll do it tonight but will try tomorrow. Thanks for the time you've taken on this one.

Dave, just to update you, tonight I was working in my beta installation and happened to change two of my collections. Later I exited the beta version and fired up the release version. Low and behold instead of just an Unnamed Collection in my Collections list I also had the two I had modified in the other installation. So it would seem that the Logos server will get these if I do something to change them (even if I change them back or simply rename them) and then sync them back to my release version. Not effortless like restoring a backup would be but maybe less trouble than doing the quick install. Thought you'd like to know.

Collections have always been problematic for sync'ing to say, a new installation. Some report making a single change was enough to stimulate the sync! To get everything on my new laptop I just went the 'quick' route because it works!
I hope it goes well for you.
Blessings and happy New Year!
