Suggestion / Request: Better Formatting Options in Notes

Hey all, especially Logos developers and programmers, I was wondering if we could have more options for formatting in Notes (like tabbed indents, underlining / highlighting, single space outlining, etc.). I used to take study and sermon notes in Word, and have switched to Logos because I can go back and forth from desktop to laptop without emailing files. I LOVE that feature, thank you! But I really miss some of my formatting conventions in Word.

To developers / programmers: Is there a way to improve this feature?

To other users: Am I the only one that feels this way? Anybody else have an interest here?

You're not the only one who wants a more robust notes client. But dig through http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_Speaks and you'll see some intimations that Notes isn't likely at this point to go the route of becoming a full fledged Word Processor which is essentially where the extra formatting being asked for takes us.

The essential design for notes is less like a WP and more like post-its you might stick on the edge of a book, or notes you'd scratch in a wide margin bible.

I'd be thrilled if they used Microsoft Word's programmer interface to provide this capability. However, I know many Logos users wouldn't have Word; so it wouldn't help them.

As an absolute minimum, in Notes we must have:

better control over vertical spacing, numbering and bullets: ever tried to create a numbered list with/without bullets see what happens to vertical spacing and if you create a numbered list and then add a bullet between them, all the itmes change to bullets - let's at least have vertical spacing control

At the moment all Notes is good for is typing in text like Notepad - the formatting is next to useless. Would not one option simply to allow whatever today's equivalent of Object embedding? Then we could use whatever Word Processor or simple editor we wanted ...

I've proposed that (not seen any responses from Logos folks), e.g. "Host Word within L4". That won't work for people who don't have Word, of course. And there's no standard object model for word processors, so Logos would have to do handle each word processor they wanted to support separately. Of course, I'd be happy with Word...

In L3 it was possible to format something in Word with superscript or color and then paste them into notes. I'm pleased to see that I can create a table in Word then paste that into notes, but I miss the ability to paste in superscripts and color. I see no reason that we can have that back.

Not sure they wqould need to model various WPs - surely if a WP and Logos supports Copy/Paste properly then the plugged in WP would handle anything copied from L4 and links back should work equally ... and the formatting would then be up to the WP chosen. This stuff used to be "OLE embedding" - not sure if that's what it's called in Windows 7 though!

Okay, updated request: I'd be happy if I could just apply the highlighting options (i.e., visual filters) already in L4 to my own notes. That would give me all the formatting I need. What do you say Logos? Would that be too difficult?

I miss the ability to paste in superscripts and color.

You can paste in superscripts in certain fonts but not others. Times New Roman doesn't work for some odd reason even though I know that font supports superscripts in Word. But the Default notes font does work. Here's a paste from TNIV with superscripted verse reference and footnotes, and they came in fine:

That's interesting to know. Unfortunately, I don't like to use the Default font. I use Bookman Old Style for English and other Latinate scripts, KadmosU for Greek and SBL Hebrew for Finnish [;)]
