LLS 2.0 books & Logos 4 Mac

I have 29 resources that are still in the old LLS 2.0 format. Will they work in L4 Mac? How should I import them? When I participated in the early days of Mac Beta, I couldn't get the program to recognize the old resources.

Also, I'm currently running L4 in Windows/Fusion. Is there a folder on the Mac side that I can copy all my resources into where after L4 Mac is installed, I can avoid needing them to be downloaded?

Thanks!!!

Wiki page has Copy Logos 4 Resources to Mac OS X section => http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_Multiple_Macs#Copy_Logos_4_Resources_to_Mac_OS_X

Suggest trying scan <path> command, quit, and launch Logos 4 (essentially steps 6 through 8 of Copy Logos 4 Resources to Mac OS X section)

Observation: Logos 4 Mac can handle more older resources than Logos for Mac 1.2.2 - if scan has trouble, wiki has how to report bugs => http://wiki.logos.com/Mac_Troubleshooting#How_to_Report_Bugs_in_Logos_4_Mac

    Otto,

I have 3 books in the old Logos 2 format that were never updated to L3 format.. they were from a Baker collection. They do not work currently with L4 Mac only L4 Win. I have tried Scan to no avail.. just my experience. Fortunately these are not significant resources and are available on my PC at the office.

Thanks John. That was my experience several months ago during the Beta program. Mac Logos 1.1, L3 Windows, and L4 Windows read those files, but L4 Mac would not. Probably wouldn't miss them - just can't stand the thought of losing 29 resources!!! [:D]

    Otto,

Have you checked to see if they are available in L3 format? Which books are they?

Puzzling - Logos 4 Mac and Logos 4 PC share same code for reading resources.

Wonder about installing Logos for Mac 1.2.2 => http://www.macbiblesoftware.com/support/articles/ - verify 29 resources readable.  If open, close Logos 4 Mac, then launch Logos 4 Mac - could open logos4.log and indexer.log files to see if resources found and copied from Logos for Mac 1.2.2

After resources available in Logos 4 Mac, have option of uninstalling Logos for Mac 1.2.2

John - Prior to Logos 4, I was using a ftp sync utility to keep my books up to date with the Logos server; there were times that I manually checked for updates of the old LRS resources. I'll post a list of books in the old format shortly.

Keep Smiling - I'm pretty sure the Logos 1.1 recognized those resources...if I recall, it read everything from Logos 3 except PBB resources. I may have an old internal drive with 1.1 on it. I'll try to confirm compatibility tonight.

    Thank you both!

Actually counted 59 resources. However, the majority of them were
"guides" of various forms and initial releases of Galaxie's theological
journals that are probably duplicated in subsequent updated releases
    (Vol 1-11).

That would leave the following LLS resources that I'm
    hoping L4 Mac can read:

Collins Thesaurus - The Ultimate Wordfinder from A to Z
    Collins Quotation Finder
Collins English Dictionary - 21st Century Edition
    What Is Faith?
    The Origin of Paul's Religion
A Rapid Survey of the Literature and History of New Testament Times: Teacher's Manual[Computer File]
A Rapid Survey of the Literature and History of New Testament Times: Student's Text Book[Computer File]
    New Testament Greek for Beginners
    Christianity and Liberalism
    The Poems of Oswald Chambers
How to Get the Most from God's Word
    Miles Stanford
    The Amplified New Testament
    ______

And I need to correct myself - Logos Mac 1 does NOT read the older LLS resources.

  • Observation: Amplified Bible is usable in Logos 4 Mac (resource updated for logos4); not know about other resources.

If resources available in Logos 4 on Windows, would be surprised and puzzled for same resource to not be in Logos 4 Mac - may want to call Logos to discuss.

For some recent purchases, observed restarting Mac caused indexer to download and index resources.

By the way, Logos for Mac 1.2.2 engine is free => http://www.logos.com/product/4504/logos-bible-software-for-mac-122

    UPDATE:

Installed L4 Mac - it imported ALL my books, including the old LLS resources. In fact the Mac library count indicates 1 additional resource (have no idea what it is).  Now in the midst of several hours of indexing...

Thanks again, John & Keep Smiling, for your assistance.

    Hi Otto,

I still have 3 LLS resources that I have been unable to transfer. Did you do a scan or did you still have Logos for Mac 1.0 on your computer. If you did scan, assuming I put the 3 resources on my desktop what would be the exact scan command.. If you do not know, perhaps someone else could reply.

    Thanks

    Hi John,

I did a scan. I copied all L4 Win resources, including the old LLS, into a shared folder on the Mac side, as per Wiki instructions. Then in the command bar, I had L4 Mac scan that shared folder...

EDIT:  John, to answer you question, try the following in the command line:

    scan /Users/username/Desktop

If the resources are in a folder on your desktop, then try:

    scan /Users/username/Desktop/foldername

    Thanks Otto,

I got them, but needed to put in the original CD.. just couldn't figure out the path for the Mac.. too long a windows user I guess.

Wiki page has Mac and PC file path examples => http://wiki.logos.com/An_update_is_downloading,_what_is_it

Mac and PC use slashes in opposite directions.  Mac paths start with single slash (called root) while PC's start with a letter (typically C:) or double slashes for a network server.

    Otto,

I had the same issue. I reviewed the Win and Mac libraries side by side and noted that it was E4 Tense, voice and mood on the Mac. I think the Win version tried to not duplicate resources that were available in both Logos and E4. I hid the Logos TVM, which hid the E4 as well. The Mac only hit the Logos TVM, so I just hid the E4 version and now I have equality between the two..

Thanks for your help Keep Smiling as well!
