3.0g Passage/Exegetical Guides issue with Windows 7 64-bit

I have the Gold edition running under v3.0g. However, when running the update from either the app or the script, it says I need to update to 3.0g. So I do, but it appears that nothing happens as the report instantly says update complete (or successful).

But here's the problem. Since updating to windows 7 64-bit, the app is freezing when attempting to switch windows after opening books from the Passage Guide.

Here's the actual progression:

1. Open LDLS 3.0g, set to open to preferred workspace (opening to Home page makes no difference)

2. Open passage guide to selected verse/passage

3. Open any commentary from the passage guide

4. Select the commentary

5. Then attempt to select another book, but the app freezes and must be shut down

Notes:

1. Opening numerous books from the Library in full side by side view (my preferred format) does not result in a freeze (this is the view that produces windows-like buttons at the bottom to click on to switch between books)

2. The same freeze condition occurs using the Exegetical Guide when opening a book from the guide and then attempting to switch to another DLS window.

Would appreciate any known resolution for this issue.

Paul

  • Apologies - unable to replicate either scenario - installed Logos 3.0g after installing 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate (for comparison with Logos 4)

Did new installation => http://www.logos.com/support/downloads/ldls followed by running many Libronix update scripts from orders page: => https://www.logos.com/user/orders (including Libronix 3 Scholar's Gold upgrade) to download many resources.

    Used Passage John 1:1-18

Able to open and scroll in a commentary - go back to Passage Guide - click different commentary, which opens and able to scroll.

    On Libronix 3 support page => http://www.logos.com/3/support/completekblist

Did notice Update problems link => http://www.logos.com/support/article/321

While Exegetical Guide populating Word by Word section, able to open and navigate DLS windows - continued to work after Word by Word done.

By the way, learned Lexham Syntactic Greek New Testament has more chapters in Logos 4.

    Keep Smiling [:)]

But here's the problem. Since updating to windows 7 64-bit, the app is freezing when attempting to switch windows after opening books from the Passage Guide.

If you did an in-place upgrade from Vista to Win 7 this may be the cause and you should uninstall (\System\PurgeLDLS.bat) and then install 3.0g. You shouldn't lose resources but first move them to a  safe place.

Thanks, Dave. I had to do a "clean" install, not an upgrade.

I regularly use L3g on W7. I don't know if it's specific to W7, but L3 periodically locks up. My most recent repeatable pattern is in using the general options; after changing one or more, L3 saves the changes and then locks up. I've learned to play around with L3 and as in the previous cases L3 doesn't handle memory well .... I had too many L3 panels open in this case. In the previous cases, I needed to close other applications. Hope this might help. L4 instead does a considerable amount of memory swapping. That's why we affectionately call him our littel Slowgos.

The only thing I've noticed re Win 7 64 bit is that libsys.exe may still be running after you close L3. You could check that in Task Manager. But I think a clean re-install of 3.0g is needed.

I hate to say it (or have to do it, actually), but I agree a reinstall is probably my only solution. The libsys.exe file is not open in Task Manager.

    Thanks for the helpful tips.
