iPhone battery draining fast

Hello everybody,

in the last weeks after installing Logos on my iPhone, I noticed that my battery was draining fast after I'd worked with the app. I'm not pretty much sure if it's actually Logos that causes the trouble but I noticed that this error occurs only in days after I worked with this app.

I usually restart the iPhone when I notice that the battery is draining fast and then it's working normal.

I work only for 5-10min with the app and then the error occurs. Looks like the app continues working in background. Error occurs not every time I use Logos but probably every second time. I use an iPhone 3G with latest SW.

Does anyone experience similar problems? Couldn't find anything in the forum...

    Hi Benjamin,

Welcome to the Logos forum community!

I don't have an iPhone but I use an iPad.  I've had a battery drain problem with it at one point.  The Apple Store "genius" told me to restore the OS from scratch.  That messed up a few things but didn't fix the problem.

I finally traced the problem to an Exchange account that was no longer active.  Despite the account being inactive, it was still trying to "phone home" frequently to try to log in, regardless of whether the iPad was awake or asleep.  My battery would drain 3% every hour even if it was asleep the whole day doing nothing.

Once I deleted that inactive Exchange account from the Mail app, everything was back to normal.  (Note: Deleting an Exchange mail account would also remove the Contacts from your device.)

That may or may not be your problem, but the moral of the story is: Think back to the time when your battery drain problem started happening.  Did you install any app (Logos included) or change any setting that might cause something to constantly try to get online or get to a server?  Try to undo those steps (uninstall an app, or undo any setting changes) one at a time, and see if it resolves the problem.

As for the Logos app, if you have a lot of books selected to be downloaded for offline use, it will continue to do that even when the app is not active and the device is sleeping.

    Hope this helps.

    Peter

    Hello Peter,

thank you fro your answer. It's not all the time that the battery is draining fast. I got the impression, that this bug occurs only after I used logos but not every time after using logos. That's why I posted it here. Probably only after using logos and selecting a book to be downloaded for offline use. But I usually wait till the book is downloaded before I close the program. But it seems to me that a part of logos continues working in background after closing the program. This issue appeared first right after I installed logos for iPhone. But if this bug isn't known to logos users, then it's probably something else...

    Hi Benjamin,

You mentioned that you have the latest iPhone SW, I assume it's IOS 4.0 at least?

Did you close the App or other Apps totally or are they still running in the background?

    • (Double click the home button, Apps that are still running will appear in the 'tray')
    • Hold an icon in a tray for a sec or  two, they should start shaking with the X sign appearing.
    • Close the Apps that you are no longer using.
