Highlighting from my iPad
Is there a way to highlight books, commentaries, etc while reading from my iPad? I like that logos syncs across all the devices that I use but I have yet to find a way to highlight while reading from my iPad (or iPhone for that matter). Is this possible?
If not, are there plans to fix this issue? (It is an issue for those of us really wanting to get the most of out of our logos library as we study and prepare for teaching, etc.)
Thanks.

NO, and yes.
It is not yet implemented but should be sometime between next week and 2099. Not sure which will end up more accurate but I am guessing by year's end if not much sooner. One of the technical hurdles the developers faced in making that happen across Mac, Windows and iOS platforms is being taken care of right now and based on the threads in this forum I think Logos realizes this is one of the primary functions needed to catch up with the other guys.

Will there be at least ability to read the highlighting on my iPad first? Thanks!

In order to make highlighting and notes work and seamlessly integrate with Logos on your computer, they had to completely rewrite the display engine for iOS. Now the iPhone/iPad app uses the same display engine as your computer does. This took a number of months for Logos to complete. Now they are ready to begin work on things like this.
Accomplishing this is a high priority on Logos' to-do list. They have programmers working on it now, and they are trying to hire more.

On 30 May 2011, Bob Pritchett, CEO, replied => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/33734/253171.aspx#253171
Bob Pritchett said:Highlighting and notes are coming very soon for both the Logos and Vyrso mobile applications. We're presently behind the other mobile eBook readers in that area, but when we release we'll suddenly be miles ahead. :-)
You'll have the power of Logos 4's highlighting and notes, including the graphical highlight styles and the ability to have multiple note files. And, soon, the ability to share your notes and highlights with groups, or the whole world.
Apologies, not know "very soon" timeframe (nearer than "soon" promised earlier). Logos 4.3 Beta 6 (released 31 May) included sync updates:
Tonya J Ross said:The re-writing of the sync feature is being done in order to pave the way for some exciting future features (groups, sharing, collaboration, etc.)
Speculating sync update could include Logos mobile applications so "very soon" may be in conjunction with Logos 4.3 stable release so can sync highlighting and notes between mobile devices and Logos 4, which would be "miles ahead" [8-|]

Welcome [:D]
Apologies: as a Logos user, have no idea how much longer. Am aware that Bob Pritchett (CEO) shares frustration of waiting so anticipating Logos to ship and enable Sync v2 as soon as framework is ready to handle volume use by lots of Logos users.
For Logos 4, stable release of Logos 4.5 will have Sync v2 components. Anticipating Logos mobile app updates with Sync v2 so can your stuff can sync across platforms, hopefully quickly and reliably.
By the way, know any qualified developers ? Logos is hiring => http://www.logos.com/about/careers with 2 development work locations: Bellingham, WA and Phoenix, AZ

Now that highlighting is a reality for Logos iPad, does anybody know how to undo a highlight?

In the first screen shot, I have tapped the highlight. In the second screenshot, scroll down and tap "Delete Note."

On my iPad tapping the highlight will not bring up the Edit Highlight option. I have to highlight part of the highlight to get the Edit Highlight option to show. Am I doing something wrong?

Hey Brian -
I wouldn't worry about it as long as you are able to get to the screen you need. It could just be the way you touch the screen (or the way I touch the screen).

I know highlighting is very new still, but do the highlights sync across all platforms including the iPad? None of my iPad highlights are showing up on my PC, or my Mac.
Second question: If I am highlighting on my iPad, and my wife wants to use Logos at home and highlight something and make her own notes, can you assign the "highlights" to a "notes" file so that they only show up when that notebook is open?

Yes.

What version(s) of the desktop & mobile apps are you using?

Currently, the mobile app only has an on/off switch for all note files. You can't have a "his & hers" note file on the iPad. You can do this, however, on your desktop.
I am unsure what you mean by "notebook is open."

I am so excited now that the highlighting feature is available in the iPad app and syncs with my laptop Logos. One problem, none of the graphics associated with my highlights will work on the iPad. For example, I used a heart graphic to use for the word "heart". While the highlight name "heart" appears on my iPad, the associated graphic does not. Will the feature be available in a future version of the Logos iPad app?

It is my understanding that Logos is looking into this as a possibility for a future update, but no promises were made.

Thanks Alabama24. I will throw in a prayer or two for that one. :-)

I noticed what I call a short hold verses a long hold...if I tap or short hold Touch the word I want to edit using the Edit Highlight, I see the pop-up "Edit Highlight" But if I "long hold" Touch the word then I see the pop-up for more options Copy, Look up, Search, Hoghlight, etc" there is a differnce in the Touch to get only the Edit Hoghlight pop-up.

Hi Mary - and welcome to the forums

Have you scrolled down to the bottom of the note popup?
The "Delete Note" button is often off-panel when the note first appears

welcome to the forums Mary!
As Graham said, you probably just need to scroll the menu down. You can also delete a note, however, by opening up the note document itself.

1. Touch the word(s) you highlighted
2. Touch Edit Notes
3. Select the highlight you want to delete (if you made multiple highlights for a word(s), then Touch the specific delete you want to make.
4. Now you should see on the bottom "Delete Note"

Sometimes a "short box" appears and the "delete note" button isn't visible... In that case, you must scroll with your finger to access it. Good job on explaining though. [:)]

I've not seen the "short box," what triggers that?

i think it depends upon the location of the highlight.
