Whats up with the font?!

Just updated to Beta
The fonts in the books are all messed up, looks like a very poor scan. Reading view looks bad
Also 3 columns in reading view??
Anyway to make it 2, three is just silly

I can't speak to the font issue. But the logic of the reading view automatically adjusts the number of columns to the space available. Toy with the width of your window until it drops down to two.
Finally, there's a Mac Beta sub-forum to this one for bug reports and other issues. A post like this one would be better there.

Hi Daniel,
If you open the TOC you should get two rather than 3 columns.
The current Mac Beta 4.2 4 has some rendering issues that the developers are aware of and have fixed for the next drop... it is a beta after all.
I do believe there has been a suggestion to allow users the option of deciding how many columns in a reading view, but you may want to suggest it again.

ok thanks
I don't think that adjusting the window is a good solution. Yes it works but really the option to select columns should be there. It's like reading a magazine.
I'll suggest it

The width that we choose for columns (which affects the number of columns that we display) is based on studies of how line lengths affect reading comprehension.

I don't mean to be rude but surely the best solution would be
a) what the users want
b) books tend to have 2 pages
Not sure what value 3 columns has over two and why I would comprehend better what I am reading. Just would like the option that is all

I would say make a formal suggestion to build up support for your request.

This is correct and the best default behaviour. Reading very long lines is very hard!
Allowing users to override line length might be a nice to have ... but would not want the default changed from the way it works now.
