How do I...

.....clear one of two duplicate tags?

I have a large set of resources, about 700, tagged with two different tags.  I was going through resources and rules, tagging resources with a second tag, to check and see if I missed any resources with the first tag. So now all 700 resources have tag A and B, successfully verifying my work but now I have a redundant tag that I don't want any more.  I want to clear tag B.

I know I can do a search on mytag:A or mytag:B, select them all, and hit the button "Clear tags". My fear is this gets rid of both tags (it should), but then my search window will refresh, losing my 700 resources that took hours to build that I will not be able to easily retrieve because now both tags are gone.

So how do I get rid of one tag but not the other?

Thanks!

Logos doesn't have good tags management. I think you are stuck individually deleting each tag. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

If I had this many resources to untag I might just hold off and hope Logos designs a better system to do this.

Yea I tested this with just two resources. If I Clear Tags, it will refresh the search my MyTag, and I will lose all 700 resources and I will have to manually reconstruct the group. That stinks. Is there no way to clear one tag from a group of resources?

Don't search.  Sort by My Tags instead--it will group them, then open up the section for either the tag you want to keep or the tag you want to delete (it doesn't matter if it's the same resources) and select all the resources in that group.  Then clear the tags, and then add back the tag you want to keep.

I just did it, and it didn't refresh after the clear.

I found a workaround: Luckily I have no resources rated 1 star, and all these resources were rated 3 star!

So I searched on all the resources by mytag, selected them all, cleared their rating, and then set their rating to 1 star. I then cleared their mytag. I then selected all 1 star resources, and added the 1 tag I wanted. I then changed their rating back to 3 star.

Convoluted - hopefully Logos will give us a way to clear a single tag from a group of resources. Ugh.

This workaround works fine as long as all of the resources in question had only those two tags A and B associated with them. If any of them had some other tags as well, you will have lost all those additional tags. I do hope Logos improves the tag management capabilities in a future release.

Be glad you're not on Mac 'stable', where deleting a tab = crash!
