Adding Notes without highlighting text

I would like to be able to add a note without always having the text highlighted.  I'm not sure if this is possible or not, but a work around I have found is to set creating a highlighting palette where the color is white, therefore it's basically invisible.  This way I get the yellow box without the highlighting.

If you add a note without first selecting the text, i.e., just right click on the verse number, then it will not highlight the text. You cannot make notes that will show up only in one Bible version this way, though. They will be attached to the verse reference (and thus will show up in any Bible that has that verse), not the specifically selected text.

I'm not seeing this behavior.  I added the note to just the verse number, but it appears to only be showing up in that bible only.

    EDIT--

I created a new note file and this worked, but when I added a note to an existing note file, it was only in that bible only.  Why is this?

When you right-click, you need to ensure that Reference is chosen on the top-right-hand-side rather than Selection.

Check the Visual Filter menu, that note file was probably not enabled in that Bible version.
