Will Prepub on Theological Journal Library, vol. 13 be more expensive later?
I'm just wondering if the prepub offer on 'Theological Journal Library, vol. 13' will cost any more after it is published. The prepub cost is the same as the final cost for vol 12, so I assume that the final cost will also be the same. If I'm in doubt as to whether to buy it, is there any advantage in doing so now? Is there something that I'm not aware of?

I would be in shock if this one goes up, but anything can happen. As for me I place a great value on the Theological Journal resources and because of that I plan on picking it up right away. These resources contain the latest research, that will end up in the good reference books several years down the road!

Yes, I know what you mean. I find that some articles I need for my research are sometimes not available even on the shelves of theological libarires (as missing volumes, not absent series), and as I'm not a student I don't have access to collections online. Also, some of what I need doesn't appear in books later on, either. I'm considering buying all volumes of the theological journal libaries (1-10, 11, 12, 13), but it seems quite expensive compared to my anticipated use of them in contrast to other Logos products (although much less expensive than their paper equivalents). But, then again, maybe my habits would change and I might use the more up-to-date resources to hand, but I somehow doubt it will make too much difference for pastoral work. I think I'll resist the 'gotta have it' urge, and not spend on this at present, esp. after a major Logos purchase recently.

John, since this isn't published by Logos, the decision is up to the publisher, Galaxie Software. However they have kept the price for their annual updates steady at $49.99 for a number of years. I think it is safe to wait. I am.

John, I am actually working on my DTh degree so I find these one of my most used resources. I also think they are one of the best buys that Logos has, year after year! I have them all and love them. I can remember using the paper editions of these back in the early 70's, I thought they were great back then, but those days don't compare with having these in Logos. They are so much nicer to use.
It's also nice to not have to run to a school some where to have look for the right resource and hope it is there.

Thanks Jim, I'll wait until I can afford it, or at least a reasonable time between Christmas specials and my next purchases (apart from pre-pubs). It looks like I'll need it at some stage soon, though. But your studies seem to need it much more than mine. It would make research so much easier for most of the main evangelical journals, as paper searching just doesn't compare to doing an electronic search of authors, titles or content.

I am a college professor in Dallas (Criswell College) and have access not only to our library and journal collection but to the far more extensive library of Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS). Yet, I have purchased vols. 1-13 so I don't have to go to the library to look for something. I have found it to be not only convenient, but necessary. This is a great investment.

John, everyone's ministry is different, and their use and need of resources differ, but, for what its worth, I've found the journal articles to not only be helpful for research, but for understanding the Bible or some theological enquiry. The great thing about journal papers (apart from their high quality) is that they are terse and well focused. One usually doesn't have time to read a book while preparing a sermon, but a couple of papers on the topic / text ... no problem! After good commentaries, the papers (for me, at least) are a must.

Thanks Paul & Stephen. It looks like I might be able to get them sooner rather than later, and I have some writing in progress that really should not be completed without the best research possible. So, it looks like I'll be giving the sales guys a call soon.
