Maybe I'm Too Old for an iPod Touch

So far I've encountered nothing but frustration trying to use my iPod Touch in church.  I need a program that I can use efficiently and recommend with clear conscience.

As I'm offline on Sunday mornings, I have to download resources in advance that I want to use.  Is there a list of resources which have been made downloadable?  Better yet, how about a star or some indication in my library next to resources which have been made downloadable?

In all this frustration, my main problem is as I scroll through my library, Logos frequently mistakes my scrolling and thinks I'm selecting a resource.  So by now I have book covers of over a dozen resources that have been opened and remain displayed in my resource list near the bottom of my iPod, apparently forever; there is no way to remove them!

Here's a suggestion - can you do something so that Logos knows positively when I'm scrolling through my library and when I'm selecting a resource?  Till then the program is unusable.  And secondly, PLEASE allow me to edit that list of book covers so I only see the ones that I want to use!

Most of your frustration (at least the first one) is probably because the capacitive screen is very sensitive.  Try pressing then dragging instead of tapping when you want to scroll.  Tap = select; long tap and drag usually scrolls for me.  This is not the app itself but the device that's frustrating you, so I'm not sure there's much Logos can do to compensate.

Regarding resources available for download, anything you can pull up on biblia.com should be downloadable, so a quick search there and/or in library view on your iPod while you have WiFi access should help you find whether the resource you want can be downloaded.

Thanks Daniel.  At least I can scroll better now.  Maybe I'll give this app a few months though.  I brought up my Bible and there were references on the page.  I tapped on one reference and it gave me the verse.  Then I tapped on the verse i.e. 1Jn 1:9 and about one in twenty times it showed the verse.  Then I touched to go to the verse and it ignored me.

This app has a loooong way to go.  I think I'll keep lugging my Bible to church on Sundays and continue using Logos only on my PC.

  • Larger iPad nicer to use in offline mode at church - do like changing bible versions - usually keeps reference location (Greek SBL and Wuest Expanded NT sometimes surprising).

Looking forward to Logos update with split screen [H]  with dreams about offline slow search and deleting book covers from recently opened list.
