What surprises me is that it seems to be named identically to the 1984 version as per below:

I just received that too. I guess that only notable distinction is the inverted colours in the book cover.
According to Biblica (which I think owns the international copyright to the NIV), the new version is simply called The New International Version. Personally, I think that's a mistake and it's already a source of confusion in my church.

I guess the plan was to not to produce a new translation but update the existing one. If 95% of the 1984 version is still there, then does it warrant a new name? Not sure!
I think you're probably right Richard. Giving it a new name would be problematic as well.
I'm going to start calling the 1984 version the Old International Version. OIV... join me.
The OIV is SOOO last century.
Those who have both versions will want to change the short title of one of them. OIV is clever. NIV84 works for me.

Yes I restarted Logos but am not sure to what "free" upgrade you are referring.

How do I know if I'm actually running "KF" now? I did the free upgrade, downloaded the installer, and when I ran it, it said I was up-to-date. I can't tell from the "About" box if anything is different, still "4.2 SR-2". I have Platinum, and the web site no longer shows a free upgrade for me.
I've now got a 67MB update coming down, so maybe that's all the resource changes Phil referred to.

Donnie, there's only one way to tell if you have the KF upgrade: check if you have the new titles that were included in your Library. This new NIV version, a new Book of Common Prayer Lectionary, the NET Bible First Edition Notes, and the Lexham Greek-English Interlinear Septuagint, Alternate Texts were included. Since this isn't a Logos 4 version upgrade but a resource collection upgrade you won't see anything in the About Logos box.
It's very practical to change also a long name for, let's say "The New International Version 1984" because otherwise when you want to open NIV from the command box it offers you 2 identical resources names and you have no chance to know which one is which.
We've now addressed this with a metadata update to the 1984 version. It's now listed as "New International Version (1984)" and "NIV84".

I have just opened Logos again (after restarting my computer although I don't know if that is relevant) and the 1984 version has been relabelled!

Strange. On my laptop neither version has a meta product description, but when I downloaded on my home computer the meta description is there. *Note: I changed the file names on my own.

Well Logos fixed the issue and I didn't see it, so when our metadata gets updated the versions will be differentiated.

Great to have the NIV2011. Very useful.
It seems to have 2 additional search fields: crossref, and later-addition.
But I don't think I'll prioritize it above the 1984 NIV until it gets the Greek interlinear.
Thanks, Mark. I know the first 4 were in my library - they were Last Updated "Today". I'll have to check as to whether I got the Lexham resource. It's a bit confusing to go through the Free Upgrade process (which includes showing my credit card info), then get to the end where there's a Download link, only to: a) have the installer tell me I'm up-to-date; b) not have any indication within the application that I'm running this "free upgrade".
I'll check back in if I find something missing.

I've got updates (last update 1/12/2011) for the first 4 resources you've listed. However, while I have "The Lexham Greek-English Interlinear Septuagint, Alternate Texts" in my library, it has no "last update" value. I've restarted Logos and run "update now" and "update resources" with no luck.
Any thoughts?
To keep things working properly with any collections that may have specified a title for the NIV84, I renamed the 84 NIV to it's former name (The New International Version) and short name (NIV), and the 2011 NIV "The New International Version (2011)" and given it the short name NIV11.
For me, this also makes sense personally, since the NIV (84) is my primary Bible.

We've addressed the cause of this problem. You should be able to get the correct data by restarting Logos.

Will this also show up in Logos 3? I still use it on my old laptop and I don't think there is a way to edit the titles. They are currently identical.

Does anyone know why the NIV doesnt have the greek bits like the NIV (1984)? Are they going to be added later? Or will they never be added liked the TNIV? Or is there some setup thing I am not doing correctly?

This capability is provided via the use of "Reverse Interlinears".
This is not yet available for the NIV (2011) but will be as per Bradley's comment at http://community.logos.com/forums/p/28219/209287.aspx#209287 .

It confused me (doesnt take much) because the package comparision guide on base packages lists a 'new' NIV and 'new' NIV reverse interlinears. I guess this is where the confusion starts, they really should be listed as new NIV (1984) reverse interlinears! Thanks Yours Mark
The current package comparisons do refer to the 2011 NIV, but the reverse interlinears are under development. When the original package comparisons were released, and there was no 2011 NIV, the package descriptions referred to the 1984 reverse interlinear, which is still under development (for the OT).

Not sure what I think about comparison charts which incude items not yet availabe, I think I would like them clearly labeled as such. When I spend money to upgrade it is my yunderstanding that I should get access to what is in the product list unless of course otherwise stated.
I am also a bit confused as to why the comparison page highlights for me say 'discovering john' as a book I will recieve when it is available in my logos package (scholors Library) and on my computer

If you look closely at the comparison chart there are some footnotes which explicitly say that the license is included and that the customer would get the file when it is available.
As for the highlighting, something with the upgrade page broke with the new base packages. It says that I would get books in an upgrade to Portfolio that I already have, in fact that every base package owner would get. The Douay-Rheim Bible is messed up on my page too. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

I created a collection of the NIV and NIV84
Then I did a Text Comparison on that collection
Problem: it shows me how the NIV84 differs from the NIV when I want to know how the NIV differs from the NIV84
How do I swap the ‘standard’ to the version I want and not just the one that sorts first in the collection?

I believe collections are sorted alphabetically in text comparison. You could temporarily make the one you want first your highest priority in your library and on the home page. I never tried it but it should come up first in your text comparison, when you choose Top Bibles in the text comparison drop down list.
The short answer is that you can't, at least when you are using a collection.
However, it is a simple matter to list the abbreviations in the order you want and the first one will be the base text for the comparison.
Logos keeps track of the recent versions you've used in the tool so returning to this combination for comparison should be rather easy.
The sorting of the collection is alphabetical. It does not respect your priority list so shuffling that list does not change what happens in the Text Comparison. I tested it out right before I posted what I did above.
