I think there may be some confusion.  You cannot run the Logos 4 program on your new iPad.  You can download from the iTunes app store a Logos app designed for the iPad that will let you access many (perhaps even "most") of your books.  Log in to biblia.com and you'll get an idea how many of your books will be available in the app.  The iPad app also supports basic searching and word lookup, if you 1) have a wifi connection or 2) have a 3G connection.  Hopefully that clarifies.

You can read them offline (if you select them then choose the offline option).  You just can't search them offline.

Thank you Daniel, the reason I have ordered is, before I go out side of my home, I had to print certain chapters from my logos resource,I will be happy if I don't have to copy any more for the books which logos has already made them available to ipad.About the usage I have no idea, you have mentioned me I have to choose the offline option, what is next,is there a detail screenshot about it ?

    Blessings in Christ.

If you sign on to Biblia.com any of the resources listed there will be available to you iphone and while not all books can be downloaded to your iPad the majority can be downloaded. Very soon the iOS version of logos will have advanced features like notes high-lighting and split screen (i believe some better offline support too). So you should be happy with your purchase of an ipad I think.

  • Logos had some iPad screen shots => http://www.logos.com/mobile/ipad

For offline use, tap blue > to right of resource (in Library list) - tap offline - while downloading an arrow is displayed upper right on resource - changes to airplane when download complete.

I just got my 64Gb WiFi iPad 2 weeks ago and it couldn't be easier to download it.

Here are a set of screenshots starting with the Logos.com homepage.

    • Open Safari in your iPad and go to www.logos.com which opens the Logos homepage

    image

    • Click Explore the options
    • Then

    image

    • Click Logos for iPad Learn More
    • Then

    image

    • Finally

    image

App will then download on to your iPad. Then enjoy.

    Every blessing

Alan - I have got through that step - App is downloaded.  Now how do I download books from my library to my Ipad?

Dennis, open the app and at the bottom of the app find the "library"  it looks like a book.  Tap it, and it will open to a listing of your books.  Search for the books that you want to download.  tap the blue arrow on the right.  on the resulting page, tap the word "OFF".  then tap done at the top of the page.  an orange arrow will appear, and when the book has been downloaded, the orange arrow will change to an orange airplane.  do this for each book that you want to download.  that is all that there is to it, but some of the resources are very large so it takes them a long while to download... as in many minutes.  I have had some take 20 or even 30 minutes.  please realize that my internet is DSL but it is not fast... so you may or may not see the same speed/time to download.

    1. Open App
    2. Log in with your Logos ID and password (and sync will occur).
    3. Open any library from bottom toolbar. Scroll to book you want to download for offline reading.
    4. Touch blue button at right. (Book info popup opens).
    5. Slide available offline button to on position. (Button turns blue and displays ON.)
    6. Tap Done at top right. (Book downloads to iPad for offline reading. Displays red aeroplane button.)
    7. Repeat for every book/bible you want. (Some of the Bibles take a little time to download.)

Thanks. As I don't have an iPhone I have never done it! Just tried it out – and it worked.

BTW can you post to Logos forums on the iPad? I've tried but the virtual keyboard does not appear when I try to place the cursor in the reply box I just get a grey bar in the box which vanishes when I release my finger. At the moment I'm having to do this from my computer.

There are ways to do it - click the HTML button at the top toolbar of the post and you can type a post - but it doesn't work well and I usually don't try. I just post from the computer.

what is the safari you have mentioned

Safari is Apple's web browser, sort of like Internet Explorer or Firefox. Safari will be on your iPad.

With the Logos app? Reading is about it. You can manage reading plans to some degree, but any of the other tools are only available when you have a net connection.

With the iPad in general? It just depends on which iPad apps you have installed. I do quite a bit with my iPad, much of which is online but several things (reading, task management/calendar management, word processing) can be done offline.

  • Thanks Chris. What am I able to do offline apart reading?

Can change Text Display size and toggle Red Letter.

Personally setup accessibility so triple clicking home button reverses color on screen - white letters on black background.

Reading stuff offline: can tap footnote to popup text.

Offline - can navigate Bible to chapter and verse:

    1) Tap screen - avoid footnotes

    2) Tap Verse

    3) Tap Book

    4) Tap Chapter #

    5) Tap Verse #

Also can switch to different resource:

    1) Tap screen - avoid footnotes

    2) Tap Book Cover

    OR

    2) Tap Library

    3) Tap Resource

Offline - can navigate contents for non-Bible resources:

    1) Tap screen - avoid footnotes

    2) Tap Contents

    3) Tap Chapter

Do like reading Holman Bible Atlas - color pictures look good - orienting iPad vertically enlarges pictures and maps.

Also use Videos offline to view Logos Learn to use Greek and Hebrew lessons (next to computer with Logos 4) - first used handbrake http://handbrake.fr/ to convert videos (and reduce size) then transferred them to iPad via iTunes. Learned about handbrake from forum discussion => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/18875/151935.aspx

As far as im aware (Not 100%), you need a third party app from the app store to read PDF. The only one i know and find pretty good for the iphone is Goodreader, however there is a version for ipad too!

If your talking about your Logos 4 notes, i dont believe it is possible at present to read them on Logos App!

For reading PDF files, App Store (accessible via iTunes) has many PDF readers, including CloudReaders.
