Base Package Bibles
(I first wrote this for another thread, where Orthodox Bibles came up, but then I thought it was better to put it in a new thread.)
Catholic, Orthodox and Jewish Bible translations really ought to be in the base packages. And the Messianic one as well, I guess.
a) Because it's simply not fair that some people get all their favourite Bibles included, while others don't get a single one, and have to spend $$$ to buy them separately.
b) Because, academically, it's far more useful and interesting to have translations that are distinctly different, than to have a huge bunch of translations that all come from basically the same tradition, or are revisions of each other.
And until this happens, there is simply no way that I'm going to agree with Logos not being biased... [;)]

Perhaps Logos could develop a base package similar in philosophy to Portfolio, but a a lower price range, lets say at about Silver, which would emphasize academic interests and include Bible translations representing different traditions.

Well, I would even stretch this request to all the other resources. I can't see any gain in e.g. the Bible Study Library having a bunch of commentaries all saying the same on one topic but missing all the other aspects from other theological biases that may be well-grounded as well and mind-broadening in addition. Fewest Lutherans are supporters of the concept of Biblical Inerrancy, not every Calvinist necessarily is a four- or five-pointer etc. Let's have a little bit more theological diversity in the Base Packages!!! [:)]

I certainly agree with that! I just started with Bibles because a) that's what happened to come up in the other thread, and b) it's easier to argue for, and should receive support even from Evangelicals, if they're serious about comparing translations.
