Bug: Notes not collapsing correctly

tom

The best way to describe this bug is simply that it is not collapsing.  When the file is collapsed, the very first note moves down below the window.  It is best to see the bug: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-BNKU8XIuI.

The title of the first note is template.  The second note is Mat 3:13.

The video demonstrates perfectly Tom what you're describing.  [y]

Good bug report, I believe it's because Logos designed notes as nothing more than a simple jot in the margin tool and didn't expect multi-line multi-page notes, as such they need to add a reflow routine to the collapse notes button.

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

believe it's because Logos designed notes as nothing more than a simple jot in the margin tool

Based on all of the users' feedback on notes, Logos should know that notes are being used more as a 'jot in the margin tool.'

I have over 200Meg of data in my notes.

    • I have six note files that contain hymn information (not the text, but copyright info along with the verses they refer to).
    • I have three lectionary files (these files contain much more information than the lectionary files we get from Logos.  For an example, they have the prayer and Gospel Acclamation for the day.
    • I have several files that contain information that I read from the internet.  (I save them in Logos instead of printing them out and saving them in a folder.)
    • I have a note file for every seminary class that I took, and they have the papers that wrote for the class plus any handout that I wanted to save.
    • I have note files that use for my sermon prep. notes.

Of course, all of my notes are linked to scripture texts.

Based on the feedback Logos receives for their note taking subsystem, note files are note being used as a 'jot in the margin tool'; they are being used in a variety of ways to help the user organize his/her thoughts concerning scripture.

I have said this more than once, and I will say it again here.  I hope Logos scraps the various ways (notes, pbb, clippings, sermon addin, etc...) we store user data, and create just one way for us store our data that can handle the flexibility of tagging the data as a note, sermon, ...

create just one way for us store our data

I like that idea.  I wonder if the Logos 4 version of Personal Book Builder (PBB) will do all that for us.  That would be nice.  Please include conversion from our Libronix 3 and Logos 4 data sources.

With the exception of PBB which is by definition a book resource I agree.

    • There is already import functionality for L3 -> L4
    • But you probably mean from L3,L4 current structures into whatever future structure.  In which case I believe there would be.

There is already import functionality for L3 -> L4

But it does not work that well.  For an example, it sometimes imports tables, and sometimes it doesn't.

Table that did import correctly (minus the fact that it lost the colors):

Example of a table not being imported correctly:

Only my import notes look odd at when they are collapsed:

    Tom,

You might want to send that L3 note file in to tech support with a link to this thread.  I believe they'll want to fix that.

I too am seeing the oddness in collapsed notes. For me, I am seeing where some of the notes collapse down to the title, but others in the same note file collapse down to a number of lines of the title plus lines of text (2-lots).

The note file where I first noticed this was created by first making my notes in word then copying them into the note file. I do this because the note files have usability and performance issues.

    Regards,

    Clinton

I reported this bug as soon as we were able to import our notes from L3.  Then it was reported that notes in L4 does not support tables: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/16196.aspx

Tom ~ I haven't been able to reproduce the problem, but I've submitted your report to development.

Tom ~  Development hasn't been able to reproduce this problem, either. Are you still seeing this behavior?  If so, is this a Notes document that has been imported from LDLS 3, and could we get a copy of that LDLS note file? You can send it to Logos4Feedback@logos.com. Thanks.

FYI... I still have the issues of some tables being imported from L3 to L4 while some tables are not being imported.  I am still getting HTML ( ) in my L4 notes.
