Smart Copy/Paste

Sorry if this has already been addressed somewhere but I couldn't find it...

In Logos 4 (WIN) to copy/paste in Word is

Copy Bible Verses Panel Menu Keyboard Shortcut

open Copy Bible Verses tool in a floating window from any Windows application (if Logos 4 is running) = Ctrl+Alt+B

How can I do this with the Mac version? What is the keyboard shortcuts to paste in Mac Word? Thanks!

There is no keyboard shortcut currently. I will write a bug for this.

You can always open the panel from the menu, Choose "Copy Bible Verses" under the Tools menu.

To open in a floating window, right click the "Copy Bible Verses" under the Tools menu and choose "Open in a floating window"

umm, on my mac the "command" key is the propeller (and I don't have apple key). I'm looking for the floating window to basically run logos in background while working in WORD- and paste verses using keyboard shortcuts in Word (works on WIN Logos 4).

If you refer to the "Smart Tags" that we provide in Word for Windows, that's something that we won't be able to support on Mac because Word for Mac doesn't support Smart Tags (in fact, it's a deprecated feature of Word for Windows—the next version may not support it).

Yes, work has been done and will be available in an upcoming release, probably in Beta release before stable release and should be mentioned in the release notes.

CMD+ALT+B works inside the Logos application and opens the Copy Bible Verses panel.

I've also put together two items in the Mac Services menu to allow you to use Logos from any app utilizing the Services menu - look under the 'application' (Chrome, Pages, Keynote, TextEdit...) menu item for the Services menu. In my testing I've found that some apps don't allow the keyboard shortcuts and some do, also have found that MS Word does not interact with the services menu at all. If the keyboard shortcut does not work, you can use the menu from the app your in without having to switch to Logos.

I've added:

Copy Bible Verses (CMD+Shift+J) - Pastes the current data from the CBV panel

Expand Bible Reference (CMD+Shift+E) - You must highlight something for this to work, if your selection is recognized as a Bible Reference we 'expand' the reference into the text from your highest prioritized bible. For example typing Gen 1:1, then highlighting it and then CMD+Shift+E will change your selected text to the text from your top bible. You don't need to switch from Pages to Logos to get bible text, just type the reference and expand in place.

If I might make a suggestion: Would it be possible to extend this slightly to expand from a particular bible?

e.g.: "Jeremiah 23:5-8(BHS)" or "Jeremiah 23:5-8(ESV)", etc., resolving the source to the highest-priority "suggested" expansion (as if typed in as "open BHS", etc.)?

This would be incredibly useful to me in putting together text study worksheets in an efficient way (in Mellel) (incorporating translations as well as NA27, BHS, LXX, Vulgate, etc.) I used to use the old "Copy Bible Verses" functionality on PC Logos 3, and find the new interface a little more cumbersome. This "service" sounds like a huge improvement!

The basic functionality is there (not what I suggested to add---which I'd still love to see!), but you have to turn it on. To enable it, go to the menu item "Word...Services...Services Preferences", search down in the list until you find "Copy Bible Verses" and "Replace with Passage". Then it should work for you. Note that the key mappings may be overridden by other software (including Word... in mine cmd-shift-E turns on change tracking) so you will have to use the services menu (or change the key mappings to avoid conflicts).

I should add that this functionality is in the beta distribution. I don't know if it is in the stable distribution as yet. Sorry for leaving out that important detail.
