possible layout bug

I study at the office. I am working in a saved layout I've created called "Acts 2:40-47." At the end of the day before I go home I update the layout. When I launch Logos early the next morning working from home on my laptop I now have a layout in the drop-down called "Acts 2:40-47 (3)" or "Acts 2:40-47 (2)."

What gives?

Running 4.2 SR-2 (4.20.4.8828)

When you save the orginal layout, are you doing so in the layouts tab? Assuming that is the case when you update the layout are you

clicking layouts,

right clicking on the original layout you created

and selecting update to current snapshot?

If those are the steps you are taking, then please post logs in order to see what is happening.

If you are doing something else try those steps and see if it works the way it is designed.

I have two computers I work with and have not experienced the trouble you are describing.

This can happen if there's more than one instance of L4 open at the same time, or if Logos doesn't finish syncing before being closed. To avoid this, close Logos on each computer after updating the layout and letting Logos finish syncing on that computer (look for the circled arrows near the upper right).

Yes to all the above. Also: I never have more than one copy of Logos open - only use on 1 computer at a time. This morning (after I posted) I did some more work, saved the layout...got to the office and I now have 3 Acts 2:40-47 layouts. Can't post snippet or screen shot here.

I will look up logging when I have a chance.

PS...is it helpful to "tag" these questions? Is there a post you can recommend so that I put the proper subject info and tag info in a post to help the Logos folks?

This has been noticed more with note files. Part of the issue seems to be not letting Logos finish syncing before shutting down Logos (or 'sleeping/hibernating' the computer). This can happen even if syncing finishes on one computer, but not the other. There may be more to it than that, but we're not quite sure what that might be. Just make sure that whenever you close Logos you hover over those arrows and see the pop-up message "Synchronization is enabled, and all items are up to date" before shutting down the program.

Somewhere there is a discussion on multiple note files, but it's a few months old and I'm not sure how to search for it right now (the best way to search is [search term] site:community.logos.com on Google (or your favorite search engine), but I'm not sure what I'd put in the search term to get what I'm looking for.

The best way to get a response from Logos about a (possible) bug is to put "Bug:" as the first word of the thread name, as in "Bug: Multiple Layout Problem" (or something like that). You can also put "Bug" in the tag field, though I'm not sure how closely Logos monitors that field.
