Unable to Download Error
Received numerous resource updates on my iPad this week. Having issues with five or six of the 30+ updates: Great Doctrines of the Bible by Lloyd-Jones (all three volumes), Why I Am a Christian (Geisler) and When Critics Ask (Geisler). There was one more title, but I can't remember what it was. A little box pops up titled "Resource Download" and it says "Unable to download"...
I went into each of these resources and turned the Available Offline option to OFF. Then I rebooted the iPad and turned the Available Offline option to ON. Still received the download error.

Same problem here - 7 books not updating. Have done as you ... no change ... maybe tomorrow?

I got 12 updates OK but 3 SBL resources are doing the same thing as the rest of you. I have not previously downloaded Lloyd-Jones to the phone so I tried and get the same error. As far as I know if they cannot let us download them any longer they would turn off the option to try so I suspect they will work soon.

I had 7 resources stuck in update mode. I tried killing the process and restarting it and also rebooting none solved the issue.
I then removed logos from my device and re-installed it from iTunes. I then attempted to set to offline reading the resources I had offline before. I was able to get all of them to download except for the ESV bible. It says that I don't own that resource in my library (even though I do and had it offline before) and can't make it available for offline reading.

Wonder about downloading Logos resources with iPad connected to AC power and auto lock set to never.
Without AC connection, noticed iPad tendency for WiFi to disconnect after 30 minutes (increasing screen brightness may help WiFi connectivity).
Forum http://community.logos.com/forums/t/28865.aspx has iPad crash report steps - with iPad connected to iTunes, can check for crash report(s). When looking for crash reports, found low memory logs that coincided with Logos disappearing while trying to offline a resource => http://community.logos.com/forums/t/29153.aspx

I have had this problem for several days with 8 resources. I also tried turning off the Available Offline option - it deleted the resource and now says I only have seven available. I started another thread on this same topic, but hadn't heard that anyone else was experiencing it.

I had a similar issue with some resources saying there was an update.
Now nearly everything I try to download for offline use I get a "unable to download" error. I've deleted the app from the iPod and reinstalled it from iTunes on the laptop. I deleted it from iTunes and download it again and installed that. I bypassed itunes on the laptop and installed it from the app store on the iPod. Nothing has corrected the problem. I don't have a problem with any other app downloading.[:(]

There was a problem on the servers that was preventing some updated books from being downloaded. The problem was corrected on Saturday. What books are you now unable to download?

EDNTI've deleted the app again and reinstalled it and it's working now but it seems to stop using wifi intermittently. I tested other apps and there arn't have the issue with wifi nor is my laptop at least not that I can tell. It seems like its only while using Logos.

I am unable to download ESV. It won't let me set the available offline to ON. It says I don't have the book as part of my Logos library even though I do have it and I have it offline on my iPad.

Anthony, I've verified that all those resources are downloadable. If you're unable to download them it is probably a connection issue.

Thanks for checking. I understand the potential connection issue at my end but it doesn't seem to be affecting any other device on the WiFi and only Logos on the iPod other apps are connecting without issue.
EDIT: Those resources are working but now NIGTC Galatians or Revelations wont DL.

Yes I'm signed in with my account. I have access to all the other resources in my library including recent purchases. This is happening on my iPhone. On my iPad I downloaded ESV a while ago fine.
I had reinstalled the app on my phone to try and fix the download problem that was happening on saturday and then was unable to download ESV back on the device. All of the other resources that I had offline I was able to successfully put back on.

I have the same problem trying to make The Resurrection of the Son of God - N.T. Wright available offline, but it would say unable to download. I tried Francis Schaeffer and also Bloesch on God, most puzzling is the ESV which is actually the youtube demo on how to use available offline, yet it won't allow me to download it. I am using an iPhone 3G.

Yesterday the ESV Bible finally showed up to be able to download for me and I was able to successfully download back on my iPhone.

I have been having the same issue for 3 days. It now seems that I can download some books, but none of the books I had already tried to download for the past 3 days. Is there some sort of cache that won't let me download things because it still thinks there is an error?

Just got my iPad and installed. Same issue with ESV although it worked eventually. Having trouble with The Swanson New Testament Greek Morphology (UBS4) atm. Retrying, third time is a charm. NLT took two attempts.

Before, I was plugging my itouch into an external power supply so that power was not the issue keeping me from successfully downloading. But I still had no luck downloading.
I have just plugged my itouch into my laptop, and connected to itunes. I For whatever reason, it now appears to be trying to download books that would not before. Hope it works for all of them. I will post again if the success continues.

I'm really surprised that no one from logos has made an attempt to answer questions? Could we please get some answers? I'm not mad I just want to know whats going on.

I have been able to successfully download every resource mentioned in this thread. The issue seems to be with the device going to sleep. For best results when downloading many or large resources, make sure you're on WiFi, leave your device plugged into a power source and don't lock it. We have an update in the works that makes installing resources faster, which will help with this.

Thanks Dave for working on this! I have recently tried to download Ryrie's resources but couldn't. I loaded some of the books several weeks ago and then tried this week to download 20 or more at a time but now I can't load any. I can download some of the other books in my library but not the remainder of Ryrie's.

I thought I would provide a little more specific info, to maybe help with this problem. When I power on my ipod and start Logos, it indicates that there are five resource updates available:
Great Doctrines of the Bible, Vol. 3 - Martyn Lloyd-Jones, and four resources by Geisler - Roman Catholics and Evangelicals, When Critics Ask, When Cultists Ask and Why I Am a Christian. When I click update all, usually within 10-20 seconds I get a message popup stating "Resource Unavailable" with the title of each resource. I get a popup for all five and then I get another set of popups for the same five resources again. This always happens before the ipod goes to sleep.
I also had this issue with the resource The Vitality of Worship. I tried deleting it and then re-downloading it and it will not download now. It gives the same popup as the others, but only once.
In my experience, I don't think this is related to the ipod going to sleep, because the problem occurs before it has a chance to go to sleep.
Since this has started, I also have another issue. If I search my library for a title, then clear the search box, I get the message "Loading" but no resources show up. After about a minute, the "Loading" message goes away, but the library list is blank. I have to kill and restart the app to get the library list to populate again.
I appreciate the work you have put into this app. I have gotten a lot of use out of it. This post is not a complaint - I am just hoping you can use this info to fix the problem.

When I get the error message, my device is not going to sleep. I get the error message within 2sec to 10 sec. In the case of the Free Preview book, I get the error message instantly.

Just to update you: Uninstalling Logos fom my iPhone and reinstalling it resolved my download issues.

Yesterday went well, with me able to download resources that I had been unable to download in the past. I connected my itouch to my laptop with itunes running, and all seemed to 'reset' for the resources that had failed.
I was able to download many resources yesterday, until last night when I had failures again. So far, it is still not downloading the failed resources from last night, but will do other resources.
Power, and locking are not the issue. Plenty of power since it is plugged in. Autolock is set to never (and has been the whole time). Love the app. Just hoping downloading issues get resolved.

Weird. I went with others' suggestions and deleted app, restored app, and began to download my resources again (while charging to power source). I was able to download the resources that I was unable to before. But now I cannot download some of the resources I had before. Namely:
- Swanson Greek New Testament
- SBL Critical Apparatus
- The Christian in Complete Armour
- Works of Jonathan Edwards Volume 1
Even stranger is that I am able to download Jonathan Edwards Volume 2, but not Volume 1

Originally, I was unable to set a bookmark (favorite) on one of the books I was reading. It was recommended that I uninstall and reinstall the app. After doing so, I was unable to reload the books I had downloaded, getting the "Unable to download..." message.
I have tried, removing the app, cycling power, syncing and reinstalling the app, and still several books are unable to load. I either get the message, the activity indicator discapears while still indicating download and a couple of times it seems the book has finished loading but reopening the library shows it is not loaded.
Needless to say, I am getting frustrated.

Getting the "Unable to download" message again this morning. This time for the NIV Application Commentary: 2 Peter, Jude. I am connected to the electrical outlet. I have a WiFi connection. The iPad is not sleeping. I tried downloading this resource earlier today and I received the error message seconds after starting the download--was not connected to an outlet at that time, did have WiFi access and the iPad was not sleeping. Tried rebooting after this and then tried to download after connecting to an outlet, but still got the error message.
