Hi all and thank you so long for your help.

I want to create my own layout heavily based on the default layout where I put in the text on the home page.

Right after I have put in, for example, John 3:1-21 and the 5 columns open up, I save the layout as Deon-Default.

But, when changing the text in this new layout, none of the Bibles or commentaries follow the "left side". And I have then saved the "default layout" only with a different name.

Can someone please point me to what I need to do to accomplish this that Bibles and commentaries update based on the text I put in?

Regards,

Deon

    Deon,

After you save your layout...THAT'S the way it will appear from now on.

IF you make any changes....then you have to re-save it....right click the name of the layout (when you have it open after making the changes you want...and choose "update to current snapshot."

WARNING: that command will take ANY layout and change it to the current snap shot!!

    Hi Deon,

But, when changing the text in this new layout, none of the Bibles or commentaries follow the "left side". And I have then saved the "default layout" only with a different name.

You will need to set the Passage Guide to be linked with the other resources. By default the other resources are set to Link A, but not the Passage Guide.

Default layout from the Home page

    image

Now you will need to link the Passage Guide

    image

    1.  click on the Passage Guide's icon to open it's menu.

    2.  Click on Link Set A to have it linked to other resources which are set to Link Set A.
         (see the wiki http://wiki.logos.com/Linking_Resources)

Now when you change the scripture reference in the Passage Guide, the other resources will follow.

As Robert pointed out, the saved Layout will not keep track of your current scripture reference location, unless you Update the saved Layout.

EDIT: to get to this Layout, you cannot do it from the Home page. From the Home page, Logos4 always takes you to the fixed Layout that it uses. Please review the wiki page Layouts wiki page for details on how to use a Layout.

Wow, these are very thorough explanations. I really appreciate the time and effort you have put in to help me out. Even though I have had Logos 4 for almost a year now, I think I am only starting to scratch the surface of what is possible.

Thank you again all for your time and helping out a Logos 4 newbie.

It would probably be very helpful to you if you would watch these videos

    Hi Steve.

I will study those videos very thoroughly. [;)]

I really appreciate everybody's help and suggestions. For a brief moment, I was feeling as if I know Logos 4 inside out already.

Steve, I have done everything as you have suggested and it works. I  have just noticed that when I scroll on my Bible box, the passage guide's reference also keeps up and refreshes resources below accordingly. Is this how it should work or have I done something wrong?

    Regards and thank you again.

Yes, unfortunately once a resources are linked, they will follow each other. So most of the time i do not Link the Passage Guide. But enter the scripture reference in the Passage Guide and then copy it to one of the Linked resources.

(EDIT: so to unlink the Passage Guide you would need to follow the previous steps, but click on None)

    ===============================================================================

Step to use Copy/Paste to have Passage Guide & Linked resources follow the same reference.

    image

    1.  Enter your scripture reference here and press Enter. Then right click on the reference and Logos4 shows you a drop down menu.

    2.  In the drop down menu click on Copy.

    image

    3.  Now in one of the Linked resources, right click on the scripture reference to have Logos4 show the drop down menu.

    4.  Then in the drop down menu click on Paste and press Enter.

Logos4 will reposition all the Linked resources to the scripture reference.

EDIT2: sorry for all the edits in this post. When you use the above method to align all the resources, then when you scroll in one of your Bibles the Passage Guide will not follow.
