I know we're not the ones running Logos; Bob is. But I can't help but wonder out loud (again) why the company is spreading itself in so many different areas and directions...
- Flagship product - Logos 4 for Windows; several key missing features (compared to L3)
- Flagship product - Logos 4 for Mac - catching up to L4Win (I think)
- iOS version - basic copy/paste, notes and highlighting features still missing
- Android version - supposedly in development
- Biblia.com and various web-based versions in various stages of development (or non-development / sunsetting)
- Bible Study Magazine
- Video series
- And now Proclaim - church presentation system
I understand that different teams with different talents and skill sets are working on these various items, but I just wonder if Logos is spreading itself too thin and stretching itself across too many endeavors, and end up not keeping up with the necessary ongoing development and enhancements of the current key products (such as the first 5 items in the list above). Could the dollars spent on hiring people for the newer, more recent endeavors be better spent on "finishing" some of the incomplete projects first (bringing them to feature-complete)?
Again, I'm not trying to question Bob's wisdom in how he wants to run the company. But as an invested stakeholder, I am curious what factors or considerations are driving this rapid expansion into these more and more diverse areas?
Any thoughts that can shared would be appreciated.
Peter
