Installing Logos 4 update

I recently received my new copy of Logos 4 and tried to install it on my laptop. I read the "heads up" that it might take all night to install, so it would be best to install in before going to bed to give it time to install. I started the install and it took less than 10 minutes to install it. Did I do something wrong or should I have downloaded it from the email that Logos sent instead of downloading from the disc? Help ! I am signed up to go to the workshop near San Antonio and wanted to have it installed before arriving, so I wouldn't have to take class time installing the software.

Welcome to the Forum Jo Ann!
After Logos4 is installed for the first time, it will start indexing all the books in your library. This can take a long time. When Logos4 is indexing a small blue icon
will appear at the bottom right side of your desktop in the task bar.
Please watch this video for more details
Logos Tutorial Video #1 – Installation and indexing
EDIT: it would probably be very useful to also watch the other videos for new users (which were created by Mark Barnes). See this wiki page Forum Home and you will see the links for the videos under New Users please watch these videos.

Hi --
I've just installed Logos 4, upgrading from L3 Silver to L4 Platinum. The software is all installed etc., but none of my new resources have appeared. I downloaded the 2.5 g/b package and let it index - any hints?
Thanks!

Frances, welcome to Logos 4.
We could use more information.
If you had indexing it had to be working on something.
When you make the above statement, do you mean that you can see your older resources in Library but not the newer ones you expected? Is your Library completly empty? Are you missing all your Platinum resources, just some of them?
Please fill us in with exactly what you are seeing (or not seeing).

When you say none of your "new resources" have appeared, does that imply that the old resources you already had in Silver in L3 do appear in L4? If so, I'd be puzzled why the new ones aren't showing up. Did you upgrade to Platinum first within L3 before getting L4? If that's the case, maybe you need to sync licenses in L3 (if you still have it installed on your computer; go to Tools > Library Management > Synchronize Licenses). Otherwise you might need to call or email Customer Service to get the problem sorted out.
If you are seeing no resources at all in L4, are you sure you logged in with the same email address / password that you purchased L3 and the upgrade on? If you've changed email addresses in the interrim, again a call to Customer Service might be required to straighten it out.
Other than that I'm drawing a blank as to what might be causing the problem. Maybe someone else has another idea.
EDIT: Mark posted while I was still composing this post so there's some redundancy. Sorry.

Hi --
I can find all the books that I had with L3, but the books I have looked for from the platinum library aren't there. I upgraded to L4 and platinum at the same time, so I shouldn't need to sync.
Just a few minutes ago, I had a notification pop up that said Logos needed to download a further 4.7 gigs, so I am going to assume this is the new content... could that be the case? Perhaps it just took a while to work out what it needed to do.
Still, it's a bit of a mystery...

Yes, Logos does sometimes take a while (usually a restart is all it takes) to recognize that there are new resources to be downloaded. It's been long enough since I upgraded to L4 that I'd forgotten the exact order of things, but with 4.7 gigs I'm sure you'll be getting all the content you were missing. Drop us a note if it doesn't work, or even to tell us all is well and it's indexing. And then you'll need to wait until indexing completes before your searches will work properly.

That would be the right size for a download of resources for your library, so yes. Let us know how it develops.Frances Hardy said:Just a few minutes ago, I had a notification pop up that said Logos needed to download a further 4.7 gigs, so I am going to assume this is the new content... could that be the case?
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Hey all --
thanks for your help. Also, apologies for my late reply. I wanted to wait for the issue to get a little more reconciled before I said anything else.
Logos is still downloading what seem to be parcels of data every time I go online - starting about 2-3 GB each time, and now down to 500 MB. So they're getting smaller, and every time this happens more resources appear in my library. So yeah, this seems to be progress... however I hope it is almost done because so far it has downloaded almost 8 GB!
Thanks again,
Fran
