Logos 4 will not open after downloading update 4.2a

This afternoon, I downloaded the update 4.2a (4.21.5.0585). After reopening, it started to download the update for some resources. Now the program will not open.

I get the Logo menu and the sign-on screen, but then it crashes.

I tried downloading Logos 4 from my account on-line, but it did not help.

The update hasn't installed properly. The log says you're still running 4.0b SR-4, and the crash is because the database has been upgraded to an later version, but the program hasn't.

Hopefully a re-install will fix it.

I noticed after I downloaded the 4.2a beta Logos failed to open. After forcing quit I reopened Logos and it seems to be working fine and taking the update.

Last night I reinstalled the update and it worked fine. It then started to index.

This morning I went to open L4 to finish some work, but it would not open. I reinstalled the update again and it did open. It started to index. My mac was running very slow to the point that the L4 program was not responding. After force quitting and restarting the computer, L4 will not open.

I think you may be reinstalling the wrong file. You need to make sure you're reinstalling RC1, which you can download from http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LBS4MacInstallerBeta/4.21.5.0585/Logos4Mac.dmg

It started to index. My mac was running very slow to the point that the L4 program was not responding. After force quitting and restarting the computer, L4 will not open.

After you install this update, Logos will need to re-index, and this well take several hours and slow down your Mac significantly. The best thing to do is to leave your Mac on overnight, and let it re-index whilst you're asleep.

I downloaded L4 from the link you sent me and let it index over night. I went to start it up this morning and again it will not open up. I get the menu and the log on screen. after a few seconds it just shuts down.

I'm going to ask one of the Mac guys to take a look at possible install problems for you, and post on this thread.

Mark is correct. I'm not quite sure how that could happen.

Where is your Logos Bible Software 4 installed? Is it in your /Applications folder or is it somewhere else? Also, have you renamed the app bundle?

One thing you can do is to delete any copies of Logos Bible Software 4 on your machine. Just drag all the Logos Bible Software 4 apps to the trash. Then empty the trash.

Once you've done that, download the 4.2a RC 1 release from http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LBS4MacInstallerBeta/4.21.5.0585/Logos4Mac.dmg

After you log in, assuming you don't have any more 4.0b versions lying around, you should be good.

Concur with strange - Logos application is version 4.10.4.9457 (opened 10 hours after Indexer 4.21.5.0585) - wonder if dock icon pointing to old Logos 4 Mac application (can right click on dock icon - show in finder)

If needed, Mac Troubleshooting wiki page has Uninstalling and Reinstalling in Logos 4 Mac - could drag application, dock icon, and 3 plist files to trash, then install Logos 4.2a RC 1 application (probably could use dmg downloaded earlier) - then drag Logos application to dock.
