Morris Proctor manuals vs Camp Logos
I'm thinking about buying the Morris Proctor Logos 4 manuals but wondering if I should wait and buy the Logos 4 DVDs of Camp Logos when they come out. How much more information would I get from Camp Logos than I could get from the Proctor manuals and, perhaps, watching more of the Training videos on the web?

Morris Proctor's manuals do have some more info in them that isn't covered in his Camp Logos presentations due to time considerations, and there's an index in the back so you can look stuff up easily which you probably won't be able to do with the DVDs. That said, you can learn so much more quickly and easily how to do something by watching it done than by reading about it. At least I can. Not all people have the same learning style though. Go with the way you think you learn best. The training videos on the Logos website and on the wiki would be a good supplement to either the manuals or the Camp Logos DVDs, and you can get a lot out of them right now without waiting for the latter.

I got the manuals when they first came out and within a couple of weeks went from totally frustrated with Logos 4 to loving it!
My only problem came about 6 weeks later when I really seen how many features had been left out of Logos 4. I went back to using Libronix 3 for my main study software.
Here we are over a year later and Logos 4 is not the same creature it was when it first came out! I have ordered the new manuals and once again I am very happy with how much they cover. I am sure the Camp Logos and the DVDs are great, but so are the manuals, and the program has come a long way since it first came out, I know it still does not have the pbb feature and other small things, but I am very glad I spent the money a second time for the updated information.
I consider myself a normal guy, but I do enjoy the scriptures and getting the most out of my time in them, and this is something I can do right now, with the help from these manuals.

Or, has anyone tried John Fallahee's Learn Logos on the internet? I haven't so I don't know. I'm a new user of Logos 4 and he sure has a lot of stuff too. I don't know but haven't finished all the training videos yet that are free (thank you to all who made them!!). I'm enjoying what I'm learning.

I got fallahee's CDs (DVDs?) when they first came out. The interactive method was useful, and he is good. At the time the examples (like the Logos site videos) were isolated from each other. Ie, they weren't shown as part of an integrated method (like some user videos--I'm talking about YOU, Mark Barnes--have done). I haven't worked with his stuff since L4 added new features, and I think he was going to show a more integrated approach, too.
I like Apples. Especially Honeycrisp.

I purchased John's material last year, along with the early versions of the Proctor manuals, but didn't get to use them as much as I wanted to. However, from what I remember, the material covered in John's resources were great and he even sent an updated file after some of the additional features of Logos 4 were released. I'll probably still purchase new MP manuals and maybe even the Academic or Camp Logos DVD's if, after review, they have enough to offer.

To me John F.'s Manual in CD form is better than Proctor's. More stuff covered and additional overviews on some of the books you own, plus power point, etc. The interactive version does help you with making the tricks and short cuts stick but in the end is your decision.

seems cheaper too....and covers lots of stuff. budget wise, this might be better....more bang for the buck. [:P]

Well not only did I buy the Manuals when they first came out, I also bought the tapes by John, I was glad I bought both of them! I never was able to get updates on either source without paying a second time.
I bought the manuals first this time around, and got them at 50% off, since I had already bought them once, I will also buy John's material again. Like I said I see myself as a normal guy that loves to study the scriptures and although these resources do cost money, if I learn one or two new things from them, they are worth the prices they are asking.
In Libronix 3, I had also bought Camps 1 and 2 and all of His books, I thought the Camps 1 and 2 were to expensive, but on the other hand they were very very helpful. Although times are tougher now, when the Logos 4 DVDs come out I will save my pennies for them too!
As far as I am concerned if you understand how to learn and know what it is you want to learn, you can learn as much or more using Logos products than you can at a seminary, at a fraction of the cost!!! I say this even as I am working on a THD. It is not that seminary is not good, but if you know what you want to learn, I believe Logos is much cheaper and you can go much deeper for a fraction of the cost. Of course some folks want or need a Doctors of Theology degree to get a certain job or position, you won't get that from just using Logos, however Logos will still make it easier to earn that degree, if you know how to use it.
Learning how to use Logos is well worth the price of these resources. People on a real tight budget need to look at Marks videos(free) and buy John's CD's those are the best buy for the bucks!!! The manuals more expensive, but very easy to find what it is you need and topics are well covered.
On another matter, I just wish Logos would do something different with their note taking and come out soon with their PBB add on.
