4.2a Indexer crash

Installed 4.2a and ran the Indexer last night. Seems to have processed all my resources then crashed before creating a new index.

This exception is the same as the crash you reported here http://community.logos.com/forums/t/27079.aspx. Is it possible that it's a heat issue?

Not sure it was ever a heat issue, but last night I ran the indexer in a room where the temp was not above 45 degrees and had a fan blowing on it just to be sure.

Was I the only one that did NOT have a problem?
Note that I had always run MERGE INDEX so that I did NOT have a supplemental index when I did the 4.2a things yesterday.

Plenty of people have upgraded just fine, it's just that everybody with a problem tends to flock to the forum or call Tech support.

Actually as of this release and SR1 later today that won't be necessary, suplemental indexes will be automatically merged.David Ames said:Note that I had always run MERGE INDEX so that I did NOT have a supplemental index when I did the 4.2a things yesterday.

Mrs. Melissa,
My problem has to do with indexing also. It already finished 100% with the indexing, after that it downloaded updates on other resources, and it started indexing all over again. Meanwhile, my illustrations section is still not producing any results after my first 10 hours indexing process. Any ideas as to what might be happening. I mean, shouldn't it be at least getting some results after indexing completely for the first time for 10 hours? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Blessings!

Douglas,
When you install 4.2a it might have gone through two indexing processes. The first to upgrade the 'old' index to the new 4.2a format. The second to add in the updated resources which were also installed. It's probably best to wait until the indexing has completely finished before determining whether there are any other problems.

9:33p.m. EST...YES! Finally, my illustrations section is working. I'm glad there's no need to call LCS for this one. I'm just wondering what kind of computers do you guys have. I mean, the guys and girls that got their illustrations section working fast and their indexing done fast. Maybe I need to get me one of those.
Blessings!

My desktop computer specs is shown below my signature. It fully indexes about 980 resources in 1 hour. The laptop takes about 2.5 hours.

Several of us have been using the beta, which meant we did the indexing a few weeks ago.

I was working on a couple of note files with a lot of hyperlinks in them. When I was done I closed Logos 4 and then noticed I had an update, so I started it back up and the indexer crashed.

It's likely that the install didn't work properly, possibly because a file was in use. I'd do a repair install of Logos.
Go to %localappdata%\Logos4\Install\Installers and double-click on Logos4.msi

Wow that was easy! I was anticipating a long index or reload. Thanks a lot Mark. (By the way there were two files at that address and neither had a msi at the end. So I guessed correctly : - )

I installed the SR-1 release and reindexed overnight and was successful this time.

I don't know why MS think we do not need to see extensions (.exe, .msi, etc) so go to Control Panel | Folder Options | View and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types".

This seems to have been effective for many users, so I'm pleased that a non-hardware solution was able to solve your issues.
