Reading Plan

I was wondering if there are plans to add a reading plan section on the Mobile Web site so someone could see their current reading plans to read on the go?
Thanks, Blaine

We'll probably add it eventually, though it's not in our immediate plans. We haven't had many requests for it.

Would love it.

This would be great.

A wonderful thing. Can't imagine why that wouldn't be important, as the mobile aspect is lessened if I can't pick up where I left off with my reading plan. JJ

Thanks for your quick response.

Ok, maybe there is some interest in this feature
We'll keep it in mind.

I was honestly surprised to see that a reading plan was not part of the mobile web site. This was the primary reason I went to the site, hoping to keep up on my reading plan while I was away from my computer.
So definitely another vote for adding reading plans to the site... hopefully soon.

Yes, I'm also finding the L4 reading plan very very helpful, and would love to be able to use it on my Blackberry. Thanks.

I think Yoda said it best:
humm...mobile reading plans...helpful they would be...yes, yes...

I would love to be able to access my reading plan over the web. I can't use my iPhone at work and would like to be able to take some of time during breaks to keep on my reading. This would be a very useful tool and one I would love to see.

Definitely want it and would use it often.

Uhhh...you will have a lot of requests for it. In this busy day...having the ability to read during visits, trips, waiting for the elevator, etc, having the reading plan at your fingerprints is HUGE! Is it part of the I-Phone App?

Uhhh....may I suggest the "Forefront of your mind"?

I think the thing the mobile platform is best suited to is reading on the go and quick lookups (as opposed to detailed study and guides). So I think reading plan support would be great. I ride the bus everywhere, and it would be great to be able to use that time for reading up on the reading plan. Just yesterday, before I saw this thread, I was looking at the iPhone app's reading plan capability and thinking it would be really useful for library.logos.com.

Hi Bryan,
Recently had a series of doctors visit that required me to leave the house before I could have my devotions. Sitting in the doctors office I powered up my Droid and wished that I would had access to my bible reading plan. I'm not sure what Logos need to move forward to bringing this to another platform.. This may be just good business sense.

+1 please!!!!!
This would be a MAJOR plus point for me... falling behind on reading plans due to PC access limits through the week.
PLEASE add.
Thanks0 -

Alright, alright, we hear you
I can't commit to any time frame, but we've moved the reading plan to the top of the list. I'll post here when it's available.

Can I throw in my recommendation that we are able to do reading plans. Just make sure there is a good way to check off that we completed the reading.

It would be great for use on my Blackberry

High priority for me as I'm having to use other packages to follow my Bible reading plan when on the move - keen to see it!

Agreed, high priority as this site will be most used away from my Logos computer. -Matthew

Ok guys, reading plans are in! It hasn't been tested too thoroughly yet, especially on mobile devices, so please let me know if you run into any issues.
It works similarly to the iphone app. You'll see your list of reading plans on the home page. You will only see reading plans whose resources are available on the site. Once you start the day's reading you'll see the standard start/stop markers. The last stop marker has a link to mark read. Enjoy

Thanks, Bryan. That's great!. I'll be testing.

...By Mobile Web, I assume you must not also mean the beta desktop website (library.logos.com)--I don't see any reading plan functionality there...would really love to...I can't sign into the mobile site at work; we seem to block the sign-in mechanism.

He is referring to the library.logos.com designed for mobile phones. If you want to access it from your computer and you get the beta desktop one, go to http://library.logos.com//?beta=false

Correct, we have not yet added reading plans to the desktop version.

All of our sites do authentication the same way. If you can sign in to one of them then you're automatically signed in to all of them. You could even sign in to the desktop version of the site & then switch to the mobile version & still be signed in.

Bryan - the Reading Plan is extremely helpful. Thanks for pushing to get this done!

I think I economized on words to the detriment of clarity; I can use the web versions on my laptop browser on my work network--what doesn't work for me is to sign in using my Blackberry across that same work network. I get the browser to the point where Logos asks for my username/password, but it won't accept that successfully. Not a big deal, but odd.

Very cool, thanks.
Just two comments - one a potential bug:
- On various Opera browsers (e.g. V5 beta 2), I see square symbols - at the top of the reading plan list (once you selected a reading plan) for example. It seems like an unprintable character. If I could draw it here I would. Its a rather big square - similar to how a checkbox looks.
- I would like being able to jump to a section of the reading plan - thus... I selected to read in one session a part of Gen - Mal, Psalms & a part of Mat - Rev. Now if I completed the first of these three 'reading plan sections' & get interrupted I'd like to be able to click on the Psalms part (which is also 'hyperlinked') to take me directly to Psalms. Currently clicking there or on the 'NT part' link takes me to the beginning of the complete 'reading portion'.
Hope that makes sense & would help others too.
As I said, its very cool & its a great help to make progress when the PC is just not available or too much 'overhead' to "boot up".
Best Regards.

...by the way - those "checkbox-like looking" squares show up in Bible text as well sometimes.

It is actually a unicode check mark character, indicating that you have completed that reading. I didn't think it would be a problem displaying it on phones, but clearly I was mistaken. I'll swap it out for an image that should work everywhere.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll look into it.

Both of these issues should be resolved now. Thanks for the report

The boxes are drawn in place of characters when your device doesn't have the correct glyph. Unfortunately if your device doesn't have the fonts required there's nothing we can do.

Hi
I've noticed an anomaly that occurs when alternating reading on the
PC & on the mobile site (or it seems to be the cause, can't say for
sure). My reading plans become duplicated like 'plan x (2)', 'plan x
(3)' etc.Any idea why this happens?
...also just noticed that I only see these duplicates on the mobile phone / web version. These ones below don't sync into the PC version somehow (even though some duplicates did sync to the PC version before ... don't know why ... or the problem originates on the PC version maybe???).
Please advise.
See below of how this looks - I guess you can 'simulate / switch' to my account & enable some trace logs or something to inspect & debug ;-)
Also... my reading plans become invalid sometimes since the freqency (e.g. read on Mon, Wed, Fri) disappears & becomes blank - then I have to re-specify the frequency & it 'recovers'.
Thanks & Regards.

I'll put one more plug / plea in for the reading plans to also become accessible through the PC Beta version of library.logos.com ... that would be a very nice add.

I just found library.logos.com this week. I am using it from a Google Nexus One. I added a new reading list for a book so that I could read it on my droid, but it will not show up on the list. The updated reading list did show up on my laptop after I created it on my desktop, but it does not show up on my mobile device.
I just figured out that the book is not available on the mobile library!! I post this since others may experience the same problem.

It would be a definate plus! I've been considering an eReader and, thanks to Logos, the iPad is top of my list. But between the number of books not available and the fact that my reading plans and prayer lists aren't available is basically a deal killer.

I thought that the reading plan I was reading on my PC would sync with the reading plan on my Ipad app. . .So where ever I read it last it would always be a the right spot where I went to read it next. As it is right now I cannot get my Ipad app to recognize that I've deleted an old reading plan off of my logos 4 on my PC and set up a new one. Am I expecting too much? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any insight.

No, your expectations are correct and are the normal behavior of the app. Normally all changes you make to your reading plan are reflected across all devices. I don't know what exactly happened in your case, but I know that Logos has been having issues lately with syncing to the mobile devices when conflicts arise (i.e. a change was made on the mobile device while also being made on the computer prior to syncing). This may be what happened. Hopefully Dave Dunkin sees this thread and can fix it for you. Most of the time when I have had issues with syncing like this, it automatically gets repaired within a day or two.

Thanks for getting back to me about this. I found that eventually it does sync up correctly. Usually it's after a few hours or by the next day, never immediately like I hoped. But it's functional and I'm glad to have it!
A friend of mine has an IPod Touch that he cannot get the reading plan to sync on at all. . .not sure what advice to give him. He is logged into logos on the device and the device is Wi fi enabled, so it's not a simple user error type thing on his part.
Thanks again. . . Loving using logos for reading. . .I'm using the M'cheyne reading plan. Are there any others presets to choose from. . . I like the preset plans on youversion but want to have the power of logos available to me as I go through the readings.
