I have my settings to update channel: beta and have 4.2 (4.21.5.0550). It says there are no update available. I have IE 9.0 so I do not know if this would be causing the problem.

Option: can switch update channel to stable for 4.2a SR-2 installation, then switch back for upcoming beta:

Installed the SR-2, Logos opened and announced it was indexing, then the indexer almost immediately crashed. Seems it was trying to index the Logos Help file. Was this file updated today?

Help file was updated earlier today; before 4.2a SR-2 was released.
The crash has database disk image is malformed - when trying to add posting data word to a Library Index file - not know which database file.
Apologies - did not encounter crash with Help using 4.2a SR-1; now rebuilding index overnight - so if crash repeatable.

One alternative is to force a re-download and index of logos4help.logos4 by deleting it.

I have updated to the latest version. Everything worked fine when I used Logos the first time after the update installed. However, every subsequent time I've tried to open Logos, I continue to get the message that I need to update and I am unable to open Logos. If I try to do the update again, I get a message that I'm already up to date. What can I do?

- In Windows, can you click the Start menu, then type the following into the search box: %localappdata%\logos4\install\installers\
- You'll then see two files in the search results. Please open the one called 'Logos 4'.
- The installation program will launch. Click Next, then click Repair, then Repair again to confirm.
Try loading Logos again. If it doesn't work, please turn on permanent logging (see 'How to ask for help', below), then load Logos once more, and upload your logs.
(The instructions assume you're running Vista or Win7. If you're on XP, let me know.)

Hi
Iam unable to intall the update 4.2a SR-2 because I get the following error message:
I have full adminstrator rights to this directory - so what do I need to do?
When I had this problem on a previous service release - a link was published for the file - and was installed by running the file as administrator.

Ian,
In case you've installed L4 with admin rights, it is necessary to open L4 with admin rights every time you want to install an update that is being loaded from within L4 - regardless of the permanent admin settings you have for L4. Try opening L4 by right-clicking and then chosing "Run as administrator". Allow L4 to download the update, then click on "Install update" after right-clicking on the L4 tray icon.

Many thanks - just the job! Everything OK now

The update to 4.2a did not go as planned and some system files did not get updated/removed. The simplest solution is to re-install as follows:-
- move your resources to another folder outside the Logos4 folder (copy will take longer)
- uninstall L4 from Control Panel
- re-install as per Method 2 or Method 3
Resource location is on the wiki page.
Do not use "Run as Admin"!
