Blurred Text in Logos 4
Hello,
I'm new to Logos and am now learning to work with it.
But there is one thing that bothers me. It seems to me that the text in Logos compared to my Firefox-Browser or MS Word is kind of blurred.
I've opened the same book on http://biblia.com and compared it with logos and it is more pleasant to read the book in the internet browser than in logos!
I've uploaded two examples; one with standard text-size and one with 120% text size scaling:

I hope it is just a bad setting and appreciate every help!
Maybe my computer specifications must be mentioned:
Windows 7 Professional x64
Lenovo ThinkPad T400
Intel Core 2 Duo T9400, 2,53 GHz
6 GB DDR3 RAM 1066 MHz
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470, 256 MB DDR3, DirectX 10.1
Display-Resolution: 1440x900 dpi

The forums are running very slowly at the second so be patient if my answer is too brief....
Logos 4, as opposed to almost everything else on your computer uses something called WPF in order to render the text on the screen.
Currently there are some bugs in WPF/.NET 3.5 which are part of the root of the issue.
A google search of the forums will reveal some of that information.
The good news is that a fix is coming, and hopefully soon. You can read about it here:

Hi Anton,
I am not sure if you noticed the date on the msdn post, but it is a very old post (about a year and half old).
He have been told time and time again that L4 will get better when the new version of wpf. The new wpf was released close to a year ago, and we still wait for the improvements to L4.

Like Thomas I'm hopeful for the release of a Logos 4 what uses WPF 4.
However, given what Bradley has said about it http://community.logos.com/forums/p/8612/122967.aspx#122967 I'm not getting my hopes up for soon. If you scroll down and read the bug reports he listed there hasn't been much movement on the part of MS.

Based on the rumors coming from Microsoft, wpf is a dead platform. So the question is no longer "when they will fix the bugs," but "if they will fix the bugs." That is really disturbing!
But Bradley's post from January indicates that they are still working on it.
It would be nice to hear an update from Logos on that issue,
i.e. dead or still in progress with some hope for a practical solution.Thanks,

Time for Logos 5...and I hope it's a lot more like L3, especially in the notes department.

I took Bradley's post as, "We are still waiting for Microsoft to fix their bugs." So, yes, Logos is working/waiting, but is Microsoft?
When Logos decided to use WPF, it (WPF) was being hailed as the next software development platform, and it was going to be around 20 to 30 years. So far, WPF has not lived up to its hype. WPF has always had speed issues, and some of the speed issues are worse in v4 than they are in v3.5.
Logos said that they were developing for the future, and they gambled with WPF. There is one thing about gambling with an unproven technology; you can win big time if you are correct, and you will loose your shirt if you are wrong. While there some very good points to WPF, I do not believe WPF will ever live up-to its hype.
And now that there is writing on the wall about WPF, I hope Logos stops dumping their hard earn money into WPF and cut their losses.

For the most part, I agree with you. But because WPF was originally intended to become the primary GUI API for Windows Vista, but it was sidelined when Vista development was “reset” in 2004. And because WPF does not feature strongly in Windows 7. And because there have been some actual posts by Microsoft personal stating that WPF is not dead, I am giving the postings by this person some creditability.
Why would Microsoft come out and state that WPF is not dead? If WPF did what it was hyped to, then there would not be all of these rumors about WPF, speculations about WPF, and posting by Microsoft denying the rumors and speculations about WPF.

I'm fairly certain from my own experiences - that Logos as a company from the programmers to the CEO are not in any way ignorant of these considerations. I'm certain they follow WPF much closer than my few minutes of googling would reveal and are thus more intimately familiar with the machinations of the Microsoft machine regarding these things.
I'll take it in good faith that while it's not likely we hear from a programmer in these matters, they know, and they'll have an actionable plan when necessary (if not already).
