Fix for IE9 with LDLS3
SUMMARY:
To repair broken functionality in LDLS3 if IE9 is installed, run the attached registry file: 8473.IE9-LDLS3.zip
This file is per-user, so you will need to run it for each Windows user that logs in and runs LDLS3.
LONG VERSION:
If you have used the registry file above, you do not need to follow these steps; this information is provided for those who want more technical details.
Microsoft has provided a mechanism to prevent the incompatibility between IE9 and LDLS3. To fix the problems with IE9, open Registry Editor and navigate to the key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_USE_LEGACY_JSCRIPT
Note: create the FEATURE_USE_LEGACY_JSCRIPT key if it does not already exist.
Create a new DWORD Value named LDLS.exe, and set its value to 1.
We have not received an update from Microsoft as to whether this fix will be in the RTM version released on Monday. However, it should not cause any problems to install the fix above, even if IE9 RTM is not affected by the bug.

I've attached a registry file that will create that key and value for you: 8473.IE9-LDLS3.zip

Before I even attempt to follow that fix (my mind is muddled to the max whenever I hear the word "registry" related to my computer), I would prefer to wait and see if there is a report somewhere on the forums by Logos to tell us whether this fix will be in the RTM version. That would be the best case scenario for me. Thanks!

The link you posted is still to the RC version (not RTM) as of 5:44pm PDT 3/14/2011. As far as I know, the RTM version will not be available until 9pm PDT (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2011/03/14/ie9-release-globally-available-for-consumers-and-businesses.aspx); we'll know more in just over three hours.

IE9 RTM fixes one bug (in the RC) but not the other. The patch available at http://www.logos.com/support/windows/LDLS-IE9 is still required in order for LDLS3 to function correctly if IE9 is installed.

IE 9 has been installed awhile without incident. But today I tried to run the L3 Passage Guide & finally ran in to the problem. The patch cured it.
Thanks, Bradley!

I was going to take this route, but there is no "FeatureControl" under "Main" so I'm waiting for you to post updated information.

Please be sure you have installed Libronix 3.0g together with the patch as this does work.

Thank you so much for this information. I was getting frustrated with the issues that I have been having with W7 and Logos 3g. This has really helped. I always seem to have problems with Logos when it is the weekend and no one is there to answer the phone.

Still using sermon file addin and ran into this problem. But the fix worked. Thanks!

I've had this patch applied for a while now, and Logos 3 seemed to work fine.
I haven't used it for about 6 months, and when I started it back up today, it's been very unstable... crashing frequently.
Seems to be related to IE 9 compatibility.
Is there any other solution besides downgrading to IE 8?

If it's IE related the best solution is usually to downgrade to IE 8. You can do that from the Control Panel. On Windows 7 Microsoft still issues updates for IE 8:

Yup. Downgraded to IE 8 and Logos 3 is happy again... along with me.

Bradley,
Thanks for leaving this solution posted. I just moved from my Windows Vista 32 laptop to a Windows Vista 64 desktop. The desktop had a hard drive crash, so I have spent many days restoring Windows Vista 64 OS and applications. While I could restore to a 2.0 TB drive, Windows Update would not run (hard drive too big!), Finally got things working on a 750 GB drive (original size on the desktop). Then getting applications working (email and MS office, etc.). Logos 5 installed and no issues! [:)] However, I still use Parallel Bible Versions from Logos version 3 (Libronix or LDLS) to prepare class materials for the Wednesday night Bible Study I lead. I remember installing the patch on my laptop a couple of years ago, but had not installed it to the desktop before the hard drive crash. Happily, adding this registry key restored functionality for Parallel Bible Versions. Libronix (Logos 3) seemed to be working otherwise, but I really only tried to get this one tool working.
Once I upgrade hardware to Windows 7 or 8 or a new Mac, I will be upgrading to Logos 6. Until then I remain a Logos 5 Gold user.
