The popups took so long I almost reported this as broken and not just slow...could we look at making these popups instant as much as possible?

Robert have you set your system to log events using the .js script and if so could this contribute to the slowness.
I ask because I have just set my system to continue to log events and waswondering if this might slow down what I do with L4
