Passage Guide and Explorer - turning it off

The passage Guide and Explorer atomatically load when I click the icon for my preferred bible. I spent an hour trying to figure out how to turn it off and "help" and "support" did not give me any help on this.
I do not want Passage Guide and Explorer to automatically load. Where can I find help on hos to turn off this feature?

Try deleting the icon and dragging a fresh one from the library window. The behavior you describe is what happens when you click on a Bible reading plan link from the homepage.

James, where are you clicking on the Bible icon which is causing this? Is it from the Shortcut bar or the Home Page? Kevin's suggestion was related to the shortcut bar. You should be able to open just your Bible without the Passage Guide and Explorer by clicking on an icon on the Shortcut bar. And you can create that icon by dragging your preferred Bible to the shortcut bar from anywhere in Logos (e.g., from the Library, the command bar dropdown menu, a tab that your Bible is open in, etc.)

I'm clicking the preferred bible from the home page. You probably know it appears there when you customize the home page to include a selection of the preferred bible. I have turned it off and on, hoping that would solve the problem: but it did not.

That's standard behaviour of L4. To avoid other resources than the Bible itself to open, you have to open it from within Library. You can also drag and drop a Bible to the shortcut menu in order to have instant access to only this resource.

This problem just started with the updates from this week.

James,
It is possible Logos has changed it along with this week's updates, but I'm not sure since I normally don't use L4 Home Page to go to further reading. However, I found out that the Home Page link behaviour is just the same in my L4 installation, so I guess it is not a problem but really meant to be this way.

OK,
perhaps that is something they've changed recently on purpose. It's been a long time since
I've clicked on my preferred Bible on the
Home Page, so I don't remember how it used to work. Logos must have thought it would be useful to users to have the Passage Guide and Explorer up while doing your daily reading. But here's how you can work around this. First open a layout which contains just your preferred Bible (you can create that layout once and save it for using this way whenever you need it; see Layouts for more info). Then open the Home Page, and click on your daily reading passage link from there. It will jump to that passage in your preferred Bible without opening the Passage Guide and Explorer.

If I open my preferred Bible (NAS95 - Like it™ Love It™ Gotta Have It™) from a blank template all that opens for me is the NAS95.

Of course it does! This thread's about opening a Bible from within the Excerpts on L4 Home Page.

Somebody frequents Cold Stone Creamery. [:)] There's one on the corner a block from my house. And it's open 24 hours a day!

OR from actually clicking on the 'preferred Bible" logo.
Extra note: Mine behaves identically in that EITHER clicking on the "Exerpt" scriptures OR the Preferred Bible logo brings up the items noticed by the OP.
HOWEVER, if I already have a Layout loaded, Then either of these (the exerpt scriptures/preferred Bible) load in the "already in use" layout. In that case the Passage Guide/Explorer etc do NOT open.
[I realize that that last scenario had not been a part of the original equation--just my own curiosity as to how things would work...]
Anyways, thank you for showing me something that I had not yet noticed.
Regards, SteveF

You're right. Would be helpful if the 'preferred Bible' logo would have a context menu for chosing "Open link" as well!
