What do we gain from the "rebuilt" resources?
Hi Bradley (or anyone else at Logos):
I've always been curious about this since the L2 => L3 transition. When you "rebuild" the books from the L2 format to the L3 format, or from L3 to the L4 format, what exactly do we gain?
I would like to have a few specific examples, if you have time, rather than general answers that we've heard before. From what I could see, the L2 books worked fine in L3 before they were "rebuilt", and I didn't seem to gain much after they got to the L3 (llxlds) format. I'm sure I'm missing something.
Thanks!
Peter

In L4 we index on your machine. In the past rebuilding made it compatible with the new indexing technology. Now it is only needed for content improvements.
We're updating many old resources to tag more hyperlinks to other content. We didn't have all the content we had now when we processed many of the earlier books, and now we're adding links and improving tags. We're fixing/replacing out of data data types. We're attaching metadata, captions, and other info to media and illustrations to let them show up in the Passage Guide, be found in searches, etc.
It depends on the books, but at this point we have (or will) be touching almost everything, and every change improves the behavior for users.

every change improves the behavior for users.
I misread that as "every change improves the behavior of users". I was about to ask for some pointers applying such changes to the folks in my church!

LOL. I think they need their metadata updated. The upgrade instructions are in Romans 12:1-2.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.
