I’m a full time priest (pastor) who uses Logos extensively for preparation for teaching, preaching, and study. I love the new Logos 4 format and the many improvements that it brings. However I find this indexing to be the most vexing part of the program for me. I understand that it is needed for lightning fast searches and I can appreciate that. But for me I rarely use the “search” feature anyway. I know the collections in my library well and generally know where to look if I’m searching for something. I loved the topic browser in Libronix that suited my needs very well. Yet whether my search took .5 seconds or 2 minutes it never mattered to me. Perhaps I’m a simple man but it all amazed me just the same no matter how long a search took. My point is that the indexing for me is out of proportion with the rest of the program. It takes so long, it takes away from my study and work time and it has to be accomplished each and every time resources change or the program is updated all just to satisfy the need for speed. Granted that may be important in some cases but personally I would rather have searches take longer than have to go through this indexing a couple of times a week. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. And yes I’m writing this while you guessed it, Logos is indexing once again.
