Logos Gold Crossgrade Screenshots.

Here's what I have as new resources. I don't think this is 100%
accurate how i did it (I have a feeling I had the KJV before today :-)
but it seems to be pretty condensed. i should have sorted them by type
first, though. sorry the pics are out of order, too.

Wow -- we put all that in the crossgrade? What were we thinking? We've got to shut that down... it's too much... :-)
BTW, there is a new KJV; for various reasons we're moving to a slightly different KJV edition in the new configurations. You'll still have the old one, since you had it before, but new users will get just the new one.

You got the Concise OED and the Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church as new resources? That pretty good. I already had them.

I have literally been overwhelmed with the Lord's goodness (and Logos' generosity!) over this crossgrade! There are soooooooo many wonderful additions!
A few years ago I was asked to teach for 3 weeks a group of primarily Thailand pastors that were visiting in Israel. This teaching was to cover the land, nature, and society of the land of Israel. It took me months to prepare, scouring so many books, the internet, and my library for pictures and images to use in my PowerPoint presentations. Now as I look through some of the new additions here, I have found the very pictures that I had spent so much time hunting down! Oh, if only we had had the ability to scan our library for images back then!
I have literally been brought to tears several times today looking at all of these book. Thank you once again for this wonderful gift! You have richly blessed me once again!

Wow, that's a shelve or two isn't it? I'm still finishing up the download on my relatively skinny pipe, it's gone from 5.8 to 6.2GB. I'm going to have to work on the new reading plans... a lot.
Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

That's an impressive amount of additions! Thanks for putting it together Philip!

So, representing the "Duh" wing of testers:
How do I tell what new resources I got? This was that 3GB DL I got last night?
And while I'm at it, what exactly does SR-1 translate to?

the way I did it was to select the entire library and take everything "Old Resources" While Downloading. Then once the download was complete viewing all except the those taged "old resources"

Thanks to Logos! Wow, I was overwhelmed by all the content. Can anyone explain the way to get these resources into L3? I have tried everything even manually and that works but there must be a more automatic way.

Joan the L4 resources won't be readable by L3 though I think if you sync licenses in L3 you should be able to get some of them.

I am overwhelmed by all this wonderful "stuff" - especially within the last 24 hours Wow!
And! Incredible as it seems, I think this material is in my Logos 3.0f ......
Dunno how it got there ...........
But! I checked a half dozen books - they were all there?
Anyone else have them also??

Well, I am only following the tenor of discussions in beta testing where we were told more than once that "new resources" would work on L3, too, unless there were some illustrations that didn't fit right. This was to continue until L4 was well in place and being received. And these resources we just downloaded aren't "new" but perhaps re-built for L4. Someone please correct me if I am wrong here. [:$]Thomas Black said:Joan the L4 resources won't be readable by L3 though I think if you sync licenses in L3 you should be able to get some of them.
I did sync licenses and ran Libronix update script. Nothing shows up. I can manually move books but then I have to track down their file name and go to the ftp site and copy files to Resources. I won't live long enough to do them all.[:D]

It looks like they included the entire Holman Reference Collection (http://www.logos.com/products/prepub/details/3855 ) which I had in my pre-pubs - saving me $140 so I don't have to feel as guilty about going for the whole Anchor Yale Reference Library. [:D]

The resources in "Gold (LE)" that can be made to work with LDLS3 are going to be built in LBXLLS format, uploaded to the FTP site, and made available through the standard resource update script. However, this is lower priority than getting the books ready for Logos 4, so it may be a week or more until this happens.

Bradley,
I am happy to hear that and sad that you are working on a weekend. Thanks!!! I was trying to figure out a workaround.[:D] I can wait.

I received 189 new resources and have been going over them and adding them to collections.
I especially appreciated the updates to NAC and NIGTC, the Eerdman's Bible Dictionary, Lloyd-Jones Great Doctrines of the Bible, the many preaching resources, the many collections of images, the Holman Bible Atlas with its nice collection of maps, geographical cross-sections, and images, and the Encyclopedia of Christianity. These and the others are a very generous gift. Thank you.
I look forward to discovering what the upgrade to Scholars Pritchettium has in store.

Unfortunately this is going to ba problem for a while. I am studying 1 Peter 3:1-7 for an assignment (thanks for you book list Robert) and was whole heartedly glad these turned up...unfortunately it was after the 20+ books that I have gotten from the library!
As Jacob has mentioned there were items added that were still in the pre-pubs lists as gathering interest. This makes me wonder whether there are going to be any other pre-pubs in the upgrade that I will then have to manually delete from the pre-pub page. I will be going through this carefully as finances to buy books I already have because of an upgrade will be wasted.
Is there anyway that Logos could help out? Perhaps cross-checking what is available and emailing us dependant on what we have on pre-pub?
Just a suggestion

Yeah, I had purchased 3 of the new NACs already. I am thankful, though, for the others. (I'm secretly hoping that the 2 NACs on prepub are included, too, and will eventually show up [:)] ).

Can you wait for the Logos 5 collections???
Every time a new collection comes out it includes (of necessity) items that some people bought on pre-pub or after pre-pub. The last time Logos had an on-line app to calculate your upgrade cost based on the items you already purchased that were now in the collection. While not as good a deal as getting them together in the collection it was still worthwhile for me to upgrade. I expect that will be the case this time.
Of course all these goodies (189 that I got) were a gift. They cost me nothing. I, too, had a couple of the NAC volumes, but that in no way detracts from the gift. I know all of us feel this way, especially those of us who benefited the most: who had silver or gold collections, as I did.
Again, thank you, Bob, and thank you Logos.

Thanks for that Mark. I have only used Logos since version three. In fact it was the Anchor bible dictionaries that got me into purchasing the Gold edition because I became aware of it usfulness very quickly...just need to learn to use it better! Logos 4 is allowing me to do that but some instructional videos from Morris would help (hint hint... [;)]). Perhaps hanging out on the forums more often would help as well [:P]. I created a note file to place all the gems of tricks that I pick up so that I can find them again quickly without having to search through the forums.

I forgot to mention I'm shifting soon and I am really glad that I can pack my books up in the form of a laptop and not shift stacks of heavy boxes of books!

It is only a small list as I only thought of doing it about a week ago! Most of it is actually search terms you and one of the others have helped with in creating collections.

I think most of us who are heavy users of Logos 3 spent a good deal of time trolling the forums (was newsgroups), looking at the on-line videos (www.logos.com/support), reading the tutorials, getting info off the blog, etc. and just trying things out. There is a bunch I still don't know how to do, but most of it is features I don't want to use. I've never bothered to see if syntactical searching would help me, for example.
Now we have to relearn for Logos 4. There's enough that carries over so it hasn't been too bad so far. Like any tool, Logos takes time to learn how to use correctly and to its fullest, but rewards those who are willing to learn.

That is a real benefit. Plus you can carry your library with you anywhere you want to take it.

I created two note files with all of Morris Proctor's blog postings, and postings on the Logos blog that told how to do something. I organized them roughly by topic. That however is in Version 3 and there's no way to import it. Since it directly contains info from Logos and Morris I wouldn't feel right about posting the file without their OK. I'm sure I haven't updated it in a year or more. Besides, its a new ballgame. Maybe now that tips and tricks will be about 4.0 its time to start a new file.

The NAC volumes are in the Silver crossgrade. I just checked your account, and it looks like you were mistakenly given the Scholar's crossgrade, instead of the Silver crossgrade. I'll unlock that for you now; the next time you restart Logos 4, you should start getting the new Silver (LE) resources.

Hi Bob,
Your account has a note: "Reported too many bugs; not eligible for silver"... not really sure what that's all about.
All kidding aside, looks like you incorrectly got just the Scholar's unlock; I've now added Silver (LE) to your account.

Maybe the computer can't tell the difference between scholar and silver so it went for alphabetical instead! [:P]

This again raises concerns over the cloud concept. At the very least, we should have a page added to our online account where we can view license information. If you hadn't checked, how do we know we had incorrectly gotten the wrong upgrade. I understand that you don't look a gift horse in the mouth, but if this had been a purchased product, how would you check your license to make sure you have everything you ordered, especially when libraries get large and harder to manage. I had generally been on board with the cloud concept, but this makes me nervous.

As far as I know, all the crossgrades were put through by hand by the Marketing team (and probably in a great hurry, given everything else they're working on); given that there are hundreds of beta testers, it's probably just inevitable that a couple of mistakes would (unfortunately) be made. Regular ordering on logos.com is, as you might expect, a lot less subject to error.
I'm sure that library/license management on logos.com will improve in the future; it hasn't really been possible for us to add 4.0-specific features to the website before Logos 4 is officially publicly released.

I suppose that is only fair... maybe we'll run a "Books for Bugs" trade-in programme for Logos 5...? [:)]
