RefTagger Stopped Working

Hello,

RefTagger has been working fine on both of my Blogger.com sites for several months. Suddenly, none of my links work. I'm wondering if there is a problem with my default Bible, HCSB. But then, when I use another version designation, that does not appear, either. Again, everything was fine for months. I use it most frequently at http://asoldierforjesus.blogspot.com. Thanks for any advice.

1) I just attempted to link to that site and it says Blog not found.

2) My guess is perhaps there is a slight server hiccough?

It's working just fine on your site for me. What exactly is the problem you're seeing? Do the links not appear at all? Are the popups on the tooltips not appearing? Is the passage not being loaded in the tooltips?

Thanks for the quick replies. I noticed after I saw them and clicked my own link that, for me, the link included the period at the end of the link, so that may have interfered with going directly there. Or not.

Then the reply that everything seems fine...

Last night, half of the links from Logos were "not found", and I tried three different browsers. Does RefTagger work at all on Google's Chrome, by the way? This morning, a different operating system and browser, still no results.

Now it's working here! Maybe Logos itself had the problem for a while, because I could not go to links from there?

Normally I make more sense, sorry, very tired today. Anyway, it seems to be working again. Don't know what I would do without it! I hope it will be possible to use RefTagger on Posterous, my backup/mirror site.

Do you mean that RefTagger was tagging some references, but others were left as plain text? This seems to indicate either a bug in reftagger, or possibly another script on the page interfering. You could try moving reftagger's script include after the other scripts at the bottom of your page.

Yes. RefTagger supports just about any browser that can run javascript-- certainly all modern browsers.

It's possible, but I'm not aware of any outages. My logs and monitoring services show that everything has been functioning normally.

It would help me identify the problem if you can tell me: 1) Is reftagger converting any/all references to links? 2) If so, do tooltips work on them? 3) When you click on one of the links, does Biblia.com load with the reference?

Hi Bryan,

RefTagger was doing what it was supposed to all along. When I would include span class="noreftagger", Reference, close span, then it would ignore it like it's supposed to. Other references later on worked just fine, including using various endings like ESV, NASB and so forth. (I like being able to turn it off so I can use KJV 1611, Geneva Bible and so on without my default trying to distract people).

What I saw yesterday and this morning was no link whatsoever, as if RefTagger was not installed at all. After you said it was working fine, that's what I saw, too. If you are unaware of any outages, then maybe Blogger.com is the culprit (not surprising). But several of the "see RefTagger in action" links did not work for me at all, that's why I thought the problem was at Logos.

Bottom line: Dunno. It was fine, it stopped completely, seems to be fine again. I seriously doubt that there is a flaw in RefTagger itself, as I had the problem on both of my Weblogs. I did not show you the other one because there are fewer references used.

Thanks, I think that narrows it down a bit. Since it seems to be working now, and I can't find any evidence of recent problems, I'll just keep an eye on things for a couple days. Sorry I don't have anything more solid for you =/

Thanks for your concern. I think it was just a fluke. If it happens again, I'll take more precise notes. I appreciate your efforts, and glad that there is probably no problem to be solved. But I think you're like me, just wanting to know what went on.
