You wanna know what's cool about the collections method?
There was a lot of hoopla surrounding the v4 method of collections vs the v3 method of dragging and dropping from one box to another.
Here is why it's cool.
I had made (for example) a collection of "Bible handbooks" and didn't "drag stuff to the "NO" pile" but did it with the limiting wording; you know: subject:bible-handbook, ANDNOT...etc...
Well, upon downloading the HUGE freebie book library yesterday...the new bible hand books that appeared...are already in my collection due to the fact that they match the criteria....no checking, dragging and dropping necessary.
Very cool...

At last! Someone sees the value!
No! We do not just see it, we enjoy it and use it since the beginning of Beta. It is one of the best things you made in Logos 4, together with tagging and other tools helping to organize the Library. Great job. Thank you for that.

Are there any threads around here that describe this step-by-step?

Yes, there is some very good information given mainly by Philip Spitzer and others.

I was noticing the same thing... I even went to my "Dictionary" collection to see if it was true... it was! LDLS3 days, I had to go and manually add the resource. If ya forget to add it, it is not there. With all the collection possibilities... new method is way cooler!
I have liked and will continue liking the new collection method. Thanks Logos!!!

I think this is one of the features that will benefit from the user community once the new version is released and we start to use it rather than test it and we start thinking how do I do that rather than is this broken!
Personally I love this feature and the new tagging that underpins it.

It will require a bit of a mindset change I think.Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

I like the collections method... One potential difficulty is how to wrap your head around the different ways to organise your resources.
Collections help by grouping books so you can search within chunks of your library.
Prioritising resources controls which resources come on right click menus, (and what else?)
Do My Tag and Rating do anything besides giving you different ordering in Library? Ie are they just to help with organising things when you're 'browsing' your library or can you also use them in searching? How have people been using them?
A neat summary "How to organise your resources" would be useful when L4 goes public, and/or a useful addition to the help file!

The new way shows promise. However, it is handicapped by metadata. To be honest, I will not really be happy until "type:Bible lang:English" gives English Bibles without any Greek ones included.
Metadata asside, I think there should be an 'ALL" operator to make "All but Bibles" or other such collections easier.

Well....
type:bible, lang:english ANDNOT lang: greek
does [:D]
UPDATED:
This syntax gets only english bibles for me:
type:bible lang:english ANDNOT lang:greek ANDNOT title:septuagint ANDNOT title:"text of the"
I had two Septuagint titles and one "Text of the earliest Greek new testament" stuck in there.

I tried this (thanks Robert) and the only non English Bible I got was the Novum Testamentum which was quickly dragged into "not". One book, not hundreds!

Logos,
Please fix these language anomalies ASAP. You have 4 Septuagint titles (2 new) and the above mentioned Greek text and tagged them as "English" bibles!
How can the Tanakh possibly be a Hebrew bible when it is written in English! One BHS title is tagged "English" and one Greek bible (Tisch) is tagged as Latin!
A bible can have only one language and that is the language of the surface text. I certainly don't want a Greek interlinear also appearing as an English bible!

Dave,
I won't even tell you what appears in my library when I try this....

type:bible lang:english ANDNOT lang:greek ANDNOT title:septuagint ANDNOT title:"text of the"
Bob, you can simplify that as
type:bible lang:english ANDNOT (lang:greek, title:(septuagint, "text of the"))
With a list in parentheses comma , = OR
