Changing from two panels to one penel in reading view

My IPad has now has two panels showing in the Reading View. How would I change it back to one panel?

Dragging the bottom of the vertical line between panels to the side will close one panel.

Is there any way to have only one resource showing?
When split screen is dragged completely to one side, only resource shows. Tap brown arrows at base of vertical line, becomes blue (with button at bottom of line), drag blue button to screen edge.
