One of the suggested readings in my OT class was this book. I wouldn't mind this along with the below;

Yes, he's a significant author. It would be great to have these works. There's only one work by Frank Moore Cross that I can find in Logos's catalogue, in pre-pub as part of the Eerdmans Biblical Resources Series: Studies in Ancient Yahwistic Poetry.
If you haven't ordered that series yet, you might want to. It's got lots of great stuff in it. Probably the highest percentage of books/authors I've heard of before of any of the big bundles that have come along! I'm really anxious to see this pre-pub get into production.

Of course. Cross is a highly respected member of the academic community dealing with the OT and related matters. Now that I think of it, we don't have some of W.F. Albright's works. Even though he is one of the "bible in one hand and spade in the other" group, he has played an important part in the discussion.
The Amazon reviewer had me at "'The Marriage Motif in Israelite Religion' - Helmer Ringgren ". My kind of subject, plus I had his wife in Hebrew (he was already retired at that time). In fact, I think I'll have the library get me a copy of that one.
Pre-pub'd it for myself last night. Had to leave the forum last night for a BBQ and family thing, I must say I do BBQ a mean burger [B]
You had his wife in Hebrew? Sounds like a pretty intelligent couple. I'm pretty happy getting by with baby Hebrew and 3 years of Greek. Which means I lean heavily on others to do my exegesis - yep I know that's a no no but it's been some years since I graduated from seminary the languages are somewhat rusty.
With Logos tools (and I DON'T mean interlinears), you can (in the words of a musical [Noel Coward?]) "Brush up your Shakespeare Hebrew / Greek." No getting the books off the shelf and paging through to find the right lemma, just click. Here's your opportunity!
good morning George,
Yep you're absolutely right. As a matter of fact I have, in L4, the necessary resources to do exactly that. It's been one of my goals to "brush up on my poetry Hb./GK."
A good kick in the butt wouldn't hurt either.
I found an article by Cross in The Biblical Archaeologist 10 (1947) 45-68 that I had not realized was there. He wrote this article, which was an award-winning essay that we find here in BA.
