Bug? All new reference ranges in searches are saved

I have known this problem for a long time but now finally write about it. When I want to search Mt 7-5 or Heb 6-12 or whatever other custom range -- something that happens very frequently -- I don't want every range to be saved. There are some common ranges I actually do want saved. Saving everything nullifies their usefulness because the list grows long and cluttered.

My work around has been to go back and delete the unwanted ranges manually every time, but it would be so much better if we had the choice between "enter" and "save for later" in the first place.

I hope the present setup is not intentional (a bug?) and if it is, I would suggest changing it. Or perhaps I can be helped to understand why it is better this way.

Note: we already have the ability to pull up past searches using the drop down arrow by the search field, so if I wanted to remember what search I did I would use that.

I think the bug would lie with the Enter key not performing a save (note that the Save button keeps the dialogue box open). Another button would be needed to indicate Use (but don't save).

Wouldn't it be a good idea if it only saved if you entered a Range title, but not when you just used the upper box? I actually thought it did work like that, but I guess I must remember that wrongly.

This might be strange, but I believe the only things that should be saved are the items that I want to save. The auto save everything in L4 has caused me a lot more work than it has saved.

I agree. It's far too easy to delete things I want saved, and far too easy to save things I don't want saved.

For me, the anomalous "Auto Save" is Guides because you don't expect it and you can't find them even when you know that! I expect Reference ranges to be saved and know where/how to delete them. My only concern with the proposal is that the function of the Enter key is not changed.

I totally agree with you Dave. This is where I have wasted most of my time in trying to figure out what was happening. I do not know how often notes are saved, but this slows down my computer tremendously.
