Shouldn't you be at church first thing in the morning?
I wish... but my church is in the process of building a new facility & sold our building to another church. They're gracious enough to let us continue meeting there, albeit in the afternoons... so, I won't be at church until 2pm (for prayer mtg & then services following)
Otherwise, yeah... I'd be at church... even then, since Walmart is 24 hrs, I'd probably still swing by there before church LOL

Ok, that makes sense, would you pick me one up while you're there?
Is the "4" a typo?
I don't think so... I think it means that version 4 is right around the corner... that could be what their Twitter countdown is for :-)

If you don't like it, I think you should take time to see future updates before rushing into a rating or review. :-)
Obviously it wouldn't be right to award 5 stars on the basis of future potential and not what has already been achieved [6]
But it really is a great app especially for version 1.0, passage guide with commentaries on my phone - brilliant!
I guess the obvious question is - while some of the features obviously require net access, will future updates bring the ability to download bibles or other books to the phone itself for offline reading? Otherwise if eg you're on a plane, the app becomes unusable...

Indeed! I was really hoping to use this on my iPod Touch while at work but it seems its limited to while on WiFi only. Offline access to a selection of books is a must.

No rest for the weary... :-)
Yes, we did realize this would be the first question. And offline access is in our plans.
But a combination of issues -- the amount of content, the desire to not have to charge you twice (at the behest of either the publisher or Apple), and some technical concerns -- caused us to put this off.
(It's not hard to store your books on the iPhone. It's hard to implement our search engine, data type comparison system, data type parsing/rendering, cross-library searching for Guides, text comparison algorithm, etc. on the iPhone. We'll get there, but we thought you'd be happy to get some basic reading and searching going first. By offloading to the server -- where we can share code we built for the desktop app -- we can offer a lot more power.)
Also, keep in mind that some users have literally gigabytes of content, and this Internet-based solution allows you to work with every bit of it that publishers allow (we're still securing rights -- the list will change constantly) without having to explicitly download or manage the resources.
Sadly, Bob, offline access is the one thing that will get this to a 5 star. Until then it is not going to be. For those of us with either a touch or an iPhone in an AT&T handicapped area (Edge only for me) make this nearly useless away from home or my church's building or wifi hot spots.

Bob,
I'm absolutely delighted with what you have offered to us.
I made the choice not to buy an iPhone for many reasons. But, I did buy myself an iPod Touch in expectation. Are all my expectations met by the program in its 1.0 release? No. Does that matter? No. I'm glad to be untethered from my desk where I have wifi access... That's a wonderful start for which I am grateful.
I do need help though - it's not really intuitive....
For those of you who have the iPhone and the app - what books are available? Are all your books, certain books, or certain publishers?
John
The only thing I do not see in my iPhone library is NICOT/NICNT - it might be the matter Bob mentioned about the permission of the publisher. I see all volumes of WBC and all other books I tried to find.

Did you have to do anything special to see volumes of WBC in the app? I too own WBC but don't see any of them in my library.

I don't know. I just looked into the Library section on my iPhone and it shows most of my books, wbc including. Be encouraged. Even it doesn't work for you yet, my case proves it is intended, so let them work on that a little bit more and it should be OK. I am quite excited about the possibility of having my entire library in the iPhone. That's really something [Y]

My iPhone app for Logos does not show hardly anything from my library. The word study screens also always comes back saying that it can't locate that word. I am signed in on the app. I have three "Read the Bible in a Year" listings on the home page of the app. Is there a step that I missed somewhere to sync it up?
I'm having the same problem as Perry Payne. I have three Bible study listings too. My library is very small compared to what it normally is. Am I missing something? Or is this something where I need to wait until version 4 comes out.
What has me confused is that it seems like many people have almost their entire libraries availabe to them right now, what did they do to get that?
WOW!
How do I find help?
