Better bid on this one before it is too late.
Johann Peter Lange, well-known 19th-century theologian, shares his scholastic research and vast Biblical knowledge in this four-volume set. This compendium of Christ’s life chronicles the prophecy and story of his life as detailed in the Old and New Testaments, focusing especially on the four gospels of the New Testament. It's interesting how books are being received in different contexts. Virtually no one in the German speaking context has taken notice of Johann Peter Lange (German!) over at least the last half century, while he seems to be well known in America. I guess this is due to the much more conservative setting and basically reformed roots of Christianity there. Or are there e.g. any specific factors in Lange's biography etc. that I don't know of that would explain this popularity?

That's what I thought when I studied abroad and they were reading Aulén, Hammarskjöld and Kierkegaard all over the place -- none of whom I had read at the time -- but not a single one of the Scandinavian theologians we did read. And, like I noticed in some other thread, Logos sells an endless number of old Protestant works -- yet none of the few non-Swedish post-Reformation pre-1900 Protestant books that sit on my shelves are in Logos...

Seriously, you don't read Kierkegaard in Sweden? We read him heavily here in Germany (he's still crucial to both theological and philosophical studies - at least you're expected to read Kiergegaard, even if you don't take courses on him), and even when I studied in Oslo Kierkegaard was pretty important.

Sadly, it's the same in my case, let alone the post-1900 era! [:'(]

Being new here, I had a few questions in regard to how this works. I saw that the bid closes out on Friday, April 15th. From that point I presume that it will enter production. My question is, how long after it enters production will it take for us to see a finished product? Will it take weeks? Months? Longer? Does Logos update us with a timeline on when the finished product is expected to be distributed?
Sorry for the newbie questions.
Michael
My question is, how long after it enters production will it take for us to see a finished product? Will it take weeks? Months? Longer?
Yes, time does depend on resource.
Does Logos update us with a timeline on when the finished product is expected to be distributed?
Yes, resource changes to pre-publication. http://www.logos.com/products/search?Status=Pre-Pub&start=0&sort=shipdate&pageSize=60
Initially status is "under development", then changes to estimated ship date (that may slip several weeks during product quality checking), followed by being shipped and credit card charged.
I saw that the bid closes out on Friday, April 15th
Noticed Clarence Larkin Collection (6 vols.) closes this Friday. The Life of the Lord Jesus Christ (4 vols.) is quite close; if enough bids before Noon Pacific on Wednesday, then bidding closes Noon Friday. If enough bids after Noon Wednesday, then closing is following Friday (always 2 days from enough bids to closing).
Also noted Francis J. Hall Theology Collection (16 vols.) is close to having enough bids.
Keep Smiling [:)]
Michael,
The Bid would close out on the 15th if customers would push past the required demand line at one of the price points. As of this minute that has not happened yet on this resource. However its likely to do so. I believe Logos then gives us 48 hours or until the next Friday at Noon PST (whichever is longer) until bidding is locked and it is posted to the pre-pub list.
Dependent on if Logos has already been working to produce the resource and there are no other issues I believe a couple months was the quickest I've seen a community pricing arrive on our computers.
As far as a timeline, Logos will provide an estimated date as completion approaches, but it is most certainly an estimate.
EDIT: KS4J - I'm never challenging you to pistol draw. I'm just too slow. [pi]

Clarence Larkin Collection (6 vols.) closes this Friday, several more bids would reduce price from $ 20 to $ 16.
Francis J. Hall Theology Collection (16 vols.) closes next Friday (Apr 22), more bids could easily reduce price for $ 40 to $ 30 (have 8 days)
The Life of the Lord Jesus Christ (4 vols.) needs a few more $ 15 bids (if soon enough, could close Friday April 22)
Keep Smiling [:)]
Getting close to $12. Should be able to get there by Friday

OK, I upped my bid to $12. Just don't tell my wife.
Philip bid what the resource is worth to him - that is all that we ask of any bidder on Community Resource.
His bid at $12 has the same effect as a bid of $15 at this point as far as the rest of us are concerned. Since the set is already priced at $15, a $15 dollar bid has no more effect than a $12 bid - and if Philip is okay to let this go, it is okay to let it go. He has done his part for the rest of us.
Thank you, Philip.
Blessings,
Floyd
